The gameplay is very similar to David Szymanski's other game fingerbones, but I think the story is far better and more cohesive. The atmosphere is very good, but I don't understand the purpose of the flashlight battery mechanic. Spoiler warning, but there are no monsters or npcs or even signs of life in this game, but it has a survival horror flashlight that dies after like 1 minute of being on. That's probably my only problem with this game, especially for being only $1. I would recommend this game if you have an hour to kill and a dollar to spare.

Heard a monster growl behind me then immediately remembered I can't do horror games and closed the entire game. Great atmosphere though, really fun to piece the story together. Maybe one day I'll relaunch it and try to finish it.

Perfect example of how the derogatory term "walking simulator" should be used with extreme caution, and definitely not in this case : yes, you will just walk for approximately 1 hour, picking up a couple keys and reading clues, and yet the creator managed to tell an interesting and (very) sad and bleak story. The music was also really good, the ambient tracks perfectly suit the overall atmosphere

A short horror game about exploring a deserted island and learning what happened to its previous inhabitants. Very similar to Fingerbones, down to the twist reveal, but much better execution imo. Visuals are minimal but effective, and when combined with good sound design it really sells the island as being just a bit "off" - not overtly supernatural, but still strangely hostile to human life. The story you uncover is similar - though it escalates as you go on, it's more bleak than openly horrifying, relying instead on feelings of mystery, isolation, regret and emptiness to do its work. There's not much "gameplay" to this game, admittedly; explore, solve a couple very basic puzzles, gather enough pieces of the story and time advances, opening a new area to explore - it's more of an interactive story. The flashlight battery mechanic feels a bit out of place, but I guess it makes you value what light you have more than if it was unlimited. Definitely worth a few bucks and the 40 min it took to play.

A short, strong game about being the last survivor of a colony on a remote island. It's about an hour to play and is quite powerful despite it's short length. It's not as good as Music Machine, but it's pretty good.
