Dark A part of the world that has always abused it's citizens, made them invisible. We see it in the way that not a single decade goes by without seeing yet another war in that region and soldiers sent to die. Civilians, die twice, at the hands of soldiers come to save them. And then are erased. So the propaganda tape rolls, and so one expects to see games that portray the propaganda and it's untruths. I think it does that quite well actually for the dark brooding mood of the game. A warning. Translates Poorly The game mechanics are simple, you have to collect a few items, and explore slowly on foot. Everything is dark, so the thing is to conserve light. That's a hint as well. The game provides very few hints, and the puzzles are probably unsolvable in a hurry without a guide. Made harder because the few hints you do get are not really enough unless you speak Russian and have solved similar puzzles. Not too Scary There are a few shadowy moments, but nothing that counts as a scare, the mazes are scary enough just by being dark to be honest. I really never truly figured out the twists and turns of one maze which has you walking in water about a foot deep at times. I think what messes up any realism is how the soundscape and sound effects are often really random. No directional sound and no strictly environmental sounds either. And that's why you don't want to be paying full price at all. I found there is a plugin you can download from LoneDev which fixes my biggest issue with this game and that is the POV and head bob which made me a bit queasy feeling. Conserve light. Great short walking simulator with an overall message that still holds true today. A tinge of horror, but no monsters except the ones we make up in our own head. Highly recommend for a quick 2 hour experience to support a great dev.

The Light is a solid walking sim with a few scary moments, but no real jump scares. For the most part its relaxing. You are just exploring a few abandoned buildings and collecting items while reading notes to figure out what has happened. The objectives of the game are for the most part straightforward and can be discovered just be exploring the area. There are a few obscure puzzles/paths foward but if you read and pay attention to the items you pick up, you can figure out your way.
