The conventional format of Lego games are that they roughly follow the media they are based upon, in other words; if you play Lego Star Wars, the game will loosely revolve around the Star Wars movie's plot. Unlockable characters possess various traits which helps you progress the heavily linear levels. If you purchase this game expecting it to follow the norms of other Lego games, you are most likely bound to end up disappointed. This game (Lego Movie 2 Videogame, abbrv. LM2VG) takes a different direction, instead of a central hub where you select a linear story level, there are many differently themed worlds reliant on non-linear open world exploration, with some containing story missions and most containing plenty of side missions. In many regards, LM2VG is very similar to it's cousin game Lego Worlds (including it's respective flaws) which is more of a sandbox experience. This game is also VERY repetitive and padded. Keep this in mind if you are looking to buy The Lego Movie 2 Videogame and perhaps consider holding out until it goes on sale. LM2VG is in general pretty good and worthy of a recommend.

Hi, as a fan of the movie this game is based on, I bought this game to try it out. Before I start listing off pros and cons, let's make something very clear: this is not a typical lego game. It plays out more like an open-world sandbox game, like Lego Worlds. So, if you are looking for something more like Lego Star Wars, this is not that. So, without further ado, let's start with the pros. Pros: 1. The music is pretty good and upbeat. 2. The controls aren't that bad. They can be a bit finicky at times but that might just be me because I'm new to keyboard controls. 3. The graphics and the open-world create a pretty nice place to stroll around and role-play. 4. There's a ton of characters to play as and a lot of fun items and vehicles. 5. The gameplay is just fun little simple puzzles to solve by building or with another item. Plus, free DLC! 6. The combat is fun and easy to get the hang of. Cons: 1. A lot of characters, vehicles, and items are inside of these things called relics, which are randomized, so it can take a while to get what you want. 2. In this game, you can play as every single main character except for Queen Watevra Wa'Nabi. (my favorite character) So, that's a little annoying. 3. The story is very loosely based on that of the movie and there are a ton of contradictions. For, example, the galaxy map shows that Apocolypseburg is in the Systar System. That is not true. It is not a part of the Systar System in the movie. It also shows Planet Sparkles in another system, where in the movie it is in the Systar System. Also, in the DLC, the Queen's palace is in the Galactic Outskirts when it is clearly in the Systar System as well. Like, it's the palace of the queen of the Systar System. Also, when General Mayhem's helmet is off, she stills sounds the same for some reason, even thought she clearly sounds different when it is off in the movie. Like, they even say in the movie it changes your voice. 4. Speaking of voices, they don't have the same voice actors as in the movie, (at least I don't think they do) so the characters don't sound like themselves. Some sound close enough, like General Mayhem or Rex, but most characters with voice acting don't sound like the character. Conclusion: Despite the cons, this game is a fun, cute, and short game. Is it worth the original price? No, but good if it's on sale. I'd recommend this to any Lego Movie 2 fan who's looking for a just a fun little game to play around with. Please note this is just my opinion and yours may be different. That's okay, everyone is into different things, that's just how it is. So even if you don't like it, please don't yuck my yum. PS: If any other Lego Movie 2 fans are reading this, just know that you are AWESOME! (You'll also probably know the reference in my username) Hopefully, you also know now you are not alone. The Lego Movie 2 is so good! The Lego Movie 2 Videogame: Four out of five stars. Thanks for reading my review! I hope you found it helpful. This is my first game review, so that's fun! Party forever, Susan, a fan of the Lego Movie 2

I can see why a lot of people would be upset at this game because it's not a typical Lego game. Instead of levels it's entirely open world with boss fights and side quests which I really enjoyed. I also liked that there was a dedicated planet where you could build a whole city and play around with a bunch of stuff. I think it's still a really fun game that's worth playing but if you're specifically looking for the typical Lego game experience I would pass on this one.

This game is completely different from all the other LEGO games. There are no level and the story is on different planets in the open world. The characters have no special abilities. You have items which give you these abilities. Overall the game is definitive not the best but after some hours I liked the game as well

"The Lego Movie 2 Videogame - A Blocky Sequel with Quirky Charms" 20HRS Gameplay Review Alright, brick fans and master builders, let's dive into "The Lego Movie 2 Videogame" - a sequel that's more of a quirky cousin twice removed than a direct sibling to the first game. 🧱🎮 The Essence: Picture this - "The Lego Movie 2 Videogame" feels like Lego Worlds got a movie-themed makeover, donning characters, worlds, and buildings from the cinematic sequel. It's like attending a costume party where everyone decided to dress up as their favourite Lego Movie character. 🎉 Control Freaks Rejoice: If you've ever wrestled with controls in a game, you'll find solace here. The developers have gone keyboard-friendly, making it a smooth sail through blockY landscapes. It's like they finally acknowledged that yes, gamers have fingers and like using them efficiently. 👍⌨️ Quest Galore for the Young and Restless: Quests come at you like candies from a broken piñata - simple, sweet, and plentiful, perfect for the younger crowd or those who still can't figure out why their printer won't work. Completing these quests gets you prints for new buildings, a shiny Lila stone (because who needs gold or red anymore?), and items that hint at loot boxes but are more like surprise bags since real money's off the table. 🍬🚫💸 If You Heart Lego Worlds...: This game's your jam. If Lego Worlds was your blocky childhood love, then "The Lego Movie 2 Videogame" is like rekindling an old flame... but realising they haven't changed much. For those who yearn for the classic Lego game narrative and depth, this might feel like going on a date and realising you're better off as friends. 🕹️❤️➡️👫 Pros: [*] Kid-friendly with a helpful tutorial that's pretty much Lego Building 101. [*] Dazzling graphics that make you want to live in a Lego world. [*] Local co-op so you can share the brick-building love. [*] An arsenal of characters and quests, ensuring you're always on some mission. [*] Vibrant worlds ready for exploration, building, collecting, and the classic Lego destruction. [*] Catchy tunes that'll have you bopping along as you build. Cons: [*] Text-heavy adventures that might make you feel like you're back in school. [*] Some pesky bugs that linger like that one brick you can never find when you need it. [*] Repetitive quests that might leave you feeling like you're running in circles, literally. [*] Absence of the original movie's voice cast, so don't expect familiar voices cheering you on. :( Maybe-Cons: [*] A sense of déjà vu for Lego Worlds veterans - same tools, same planet-hopping. [*] The jump to full release saw some audio cutbacks, so it's English or bust. [*] A sneaking suspicion of content scarcity, with planets ticking off faster than a mini-figure's legs can run. Rating: 🌟🌟🌟🌟 (Because who doesn't love a bit of nostalgia mixed with new adventures?) 20 hours in, and "The Lego Movie 2 Videogame" feels like a comfy Lego couch. It's familiar, it's fun, and there's always one more brick to place. Sure, it might not break the mold, but it sure knows how to fill it - with colorful, engaging content that keeps you coming back for more. Just remember, it's all about the journey, one brick at a time. 🧱🚀 #LegoMovie2Game #BlockyAdventures #BuildExploreRepeat
