Gone, but not forgotten. The Forest Quartet tells a story of a jazz band struggling with loss. The band is called The Forest Quartet (as the title suggests). You play as Nina, a band member who has passed away. As a spirit, Nina helps her band members cope with their mental struggles and prepare for a farewell concert. The game is really short, only takes 1 hour. You travel through three chapters, each featuring different mechanics and conversations with the band members. The game indeed includes puzzle elements, they aren't too difficult, but I feel the game more focuses on the emotional story of finding motivation after a significant loss. I wasn't expecting much, but it turned out to be a well-spent hour for a short emotional story, considering its price of around $0.60 at this year's Independent Games Festival. For the best experience, it is recommended to play with headphones. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3289044459

The Forest Quartet offers a special experience by telling a story of sorrow, grief and loss, deals also with topics such as depression and self-doubt. Game and level design is appealing, fitting and artfully created. In my opinion, sound and musical score in general, as well as the sound design for itself, was well done and deserves the most praise, and I say this even though there are also a few points that could be constructivley criticized, when Nina sings in the game, it sounds a bit synthetic and plastic, it would have been much nicer to hear her sing properly, and maybe in a few variations so it's not always the same. In the scenes with the other band members, there are a few places where you can't understand the dialog very well and there are always gaps during the game that could have been filled with more background sound. The puzzles are extremely easy to solve and the game can be completed very quickly. Nevertheless, it is a special game in terms of the idea and the story, as well as the artistic implementation.
