Really Nice short indie game. This is made by a one developer team so don't expect the content of a AAA production. The gameplay is nice but a bit redundant, the artistic style has a lot of personality too. As I write this the game price is at -80%, totaly worth a buy. Personally even at his full price I think the game is worth it.

Also try Bulwark. The game is optimized for controllers and doesn't work well with keyboard and mouse, but controls are relatively simple any easy to get a hang of even if you don't use controllers often. Bulwark and Falconeer have some of the most interesting and creative world building from any game/series I have ever seen. 10/10

i dont know man... im not recommending it as much i want to recommend it. youre not really playing it for the gameplay, it was more of a story. but at the same time the story of this game is a giant sequel bait. youre playing as a very unique kind of "perspective" in this story. youre a falconeer, Flying beast bound Vocation in where you are the fastest menthod of traverse the world, and most magical feeling aswell. you carry guns that can be reloaded with thunder and you can exchange the ammo slots for more missile. the flying is majestic and fun but whats VERY SUCKY about this game is that the birds really despise getting near any object whatsoever. EVEN if you are aware whatever object near you wont disturb the flight of your falcon, it will overreact and just thrown off the path of your aerial choosing. as for story. its magnificent. each party plays a role in this game of seeking the hidden magical past of the world. and these people who lived and unthriving on this small island on this oceanic world are struggling to keep their stuff around with all this waters. it made sense, and the world building isnt shallow, its exactly as much as it tries to tell (in my opinion). but again. this entire thing is one giant sequel bait. idk if they are planning to make a new game on this. but one thing for sure, after 3-4 hours the flying becomes a chore and this game is even aware of it, you can skip so much travelling , even tho you are FLYING AN EAGLE WITH GUNS. the dev of this game have to make this part a lot mroe interesting because like, after some hours into the game i was asking that question, " why something as flying with bigass eagle can felt boring and... chore-ish?". the must be a way to make it more interesting and NO. the Speedrun-torch-thing SUCKS!!!

I don't often write serious reviews, but I feel this game deserves one. Gameplay It's a game about flying where you only indirectly control your craft, which happens to be a really cool giant falcon. Or it can be a pterosaur or a dragon. You're armed with various kinds of laser-like weapons and will dogfight against other flying opponents, ships, flying ships, giant things hard to categorize, and even flying fortresses. You will learn to line your shots while managing your bird's energy and health, and you will feel really badass doing so. Progression You, as in the person in relative control of the flying beast, are expandable. You will pick a new character at every new chapter, which you can, oddly, play in any order. Don't fret, everything important that you unlocked at any time stays unlocked (birds, locations, missions, upgrades, etc.), so you can restart a chapter with a new class at any point without losing any progression. It seems a bit weird at first glance, when every other game has convoluted unlock trees and grind, but this freedom is actually very enjoyable. Narration The scenario is pretty elaborate, and more than serviceable, with a complex lore about factions and houses waging wars, forging alliances and betraying each other in an enigmatic world full of ancient secrets. It should be noted that EVERY line in the game gets voice acting, which is even pretty good !! My favorite until now is a drunk character that is pretty funny, as in an obvious imitation of someone grossly drunk. The side missions are pretty forgetable (mostly combat or escort missions) but they have the merit to exist as additionnal content. World building The game world also benefits from some escort mission that are diegetically integrated into it in the form of ships that will ask for assistance or mention that the waters are dangerous, and in general the world feels alive, with ships crossing trade routes, odd pirate encounters, and hostile factions, depending of the chapter. However the game succesfully avoids the "theme park effect" that some open world games have by offering vast expanses of oceans to cross. it has in general a sort of eerie feel to it, especially in some areas like the Temple of Creation which I found completely by chance and was a pretty amazing moment. Art direction It is somewhat "simple" on the technical side (low poly, limited texturing) but every piece fits together with the others really well, to create a beautiful world that feels a bit out of time, or rather "after the times" : it feels that civilisations have already ran their best course, and all is left is an endless ocean of lost knowledge. From what we can gather from npc dialogue their life is hard, and conditions dire for most, which I feel is also conveyed through the somber tones of the cities and the sea. In general the color palette is beautitul, with surprisingly superb combinations of colors for the ocean (deep purple, cyan blue). YMMV, my screen has weird color balancing. In conclusion If I'm not mistaken this game comes from a very small dev team, which can explain the quirkiness of the game sometimes. I feel that also contributes to its odd charm though, and it should be noted that performance is incredible (some AAA should take note) and is perfectly stable. I'm really interested to see this studio's next projects.

I was expecting Panzer Dragoon, but this is halfway to Privateer. It's a single flat open world that you can BASICALLY go anywhere in, although if you land during a mission you generally lose the mission. You buy different gear from outposts, but you can only do that if you've got a trading permit, which you earn doing missions, or buying elsewhere. You can't do trade runs, though. If you accidentally kill a friendly, BAM, you're a pirate, and there's a token pirate mission chain and some pirate-only gear. If you just play the missions in the default order, you will discover most of the world automatically. The worldbuilding is great and gives the same feeling of "this is a totally alien world with alien rules" that the first Dune novel gave. The scenery and the music reinforce this. The voice acting is "lowest-bidder" quality, except maybe for the Brixton guy at Duncle outpost. If the VAs had displayed some passion in their acting, it would really have elevated things. The class/bird system is a bit weird. Each new chapter, your money, experience, and weapons carry over -- but your bird is reset (including gear "in" the bird, but not "on" the bird). This kinda makes sense narratively, but feels weirdly arbitrary gameplay-wise. The actual combat is somewhere between adequate and good. I did barrel rolls accidentally WAY too often. This made me give up on the time-trial "race" tracks (which were poorly explained). Some way to Imelmann would be nice. The Pugachev and stoop manouvres work well. The XP(?) orbs on kills often spawn too far from the player, so I have to "chase" downed birds to catch them.
