Solid game. LOTS to explore, which is the main thing I crave in these kinds of games. The logic for some of the puzzles is next to impossible to corner

Very nice and challenging puzzler. You need to like pixel hunting, though.

A little slow to set up a scene, and movement is annoying as it is only point and click and you cannot search every nook and cranny, only what it will let you do. That said it is in the perfect adventure puzzle genre, no hidden objects, just find and solve puzzles in an atmospheric castle. The best type of game there is for me. More elementary than the Myst series and less creepy than the Room, but very enjoyable. Nice soundtrack here and there too.

You play as a hapless technician sent to an abandoned castle, tasked with finding the source of a radio signal that is disrupting local radio, TV, and WiFi service. You explore the mysterious castle solving puzzles to find the source of the signal, while collecting diary pages and other family memorabilia to discover the story of their disappearance. This game had won a slew of awards and it's not hard to see why. The story is well told (there is a lot of reading), the castle is fiendishly complex (a lot of wandering about), and your environment is richly detailed (sooo much to point and click on). The controls are very similar to The Room series of games, and the UI conveniently tucks out of the way should you want to take a screenshot. The game looks fantastic with just enough music to set the mood. The puzzles are easily understood in the beginning, but as you progress, they become increasingly obscure. The final part of the castle defeated me and I resorted to a written guide. Then there's the invisible collectables. Even when I knew where a collectable was from reading a guide, I had to click blindly in a small area for 10 minutes before triggering it. This happened to me a number of times in the course of the game. And finally, there are the achievements that can only be triggered at two different times of the year. It's safe to say that this game has its frustrating moments. Still, if point and click puzzlers are your thing, and you enjoy a challenge, The Eyes of Ara is well worth your time.

Puzzles are of decent challenge rating, there's a twist some might find frustrating, as the chapter completion is not linear and you might miss things if you don't keep looking at your pause screen. Regardless it's worth your time and money at $10 or so
