I recommend this game, conditionally. - It's really short. - It's probably not that engaging if you're new to The Expanse series (book or series). - It's a standard Telltale experience. If any of the above three statements put you off, don't get the game. But if you're into the Expanse, and still okay with a short and simple narrative adventure game in this year 2024 and beyond, its fun. Telltale does a pretty good job with the IP, given their skill sets. I think what the game REALLY stirs in me is my need for a much larger Expanse video game project. 6.5/10.

I have heard about "The Expanse" before, but never came around to actually watching/reading it, and I bought this game only because I'm a long-time fan of Telltale. And as always, they did their magic: I was able to grasp a lot about the universe, the factions, the conflicts explored in it, even though I came in fully blind; I cried at times, and sympathized with all the characters, even the "baddies", though I don't have any context from the TV show or books - they are just well written characters. The game has made a big impact on me, including the DLC, it was also amazing (and heartbreaking), and I'm now watching the show, and plan on reading the books, too. Huge thanks to everyone involved in creation of this incredible experience.

If you haven't watched the show I feel like this really wouldn't be worth it because there is very backstory or exposition. On the other hand, if you are a fan of the show, it is really fun to get back into the Expanse universe. Voice acting is great, especially Drummer, the fully 360 movement is unique & nicely done. It was over too quick but if you want to spend an evening listening to some beautiful lang belta pick up when on sale beratna.

FANTASTIC! Everything I could want in a Telltale version of Drummer's story before "the Expanse". Even if you have not seen the TV series, or read the books, but are a fan of Telltale Games' work, you will likely enjoy this game. First of all I cannot BELIEVE the people complaining about the quick time events as combat in this game. Standard Telltale Games stuff. Nothing new or different here. These games are narrative driven, and "choices have consequences" driven. Have been since the Walking Dead (also great games) days. Please don't buy these games expecting them to be something they NEVER were and NEVER claimed to be. I've loved the Drummer character since her intro in the TV series. Cara Gee (returning to voice) brings such life, such steely grit and determination surrounding a moral core of dedication to her fellow Belters and empathy for all, I can't believe she has not been nominated for any gaming awards. It is a great disservice to her and this game. This is the story of Drummer before she hooks up with visionary and redeemed UN figure, now OPA leader, Fred Johnson. Filled with memorable characters that I quickly became attached to (even the "bad guy" was likeable in her own way!) the story is engrossing in a way that it seems to fly WAY too quickly by. The art direction is gorgeous. The "click" of your mag boots and hiss of your jet pack really does a great job of immersing you into a world without gravity. Without going into detail for worry of spoilers, there are times when emptiness and a dwindling oxygen supply transport you into the story, as Drummer. Just fantastic writing, sound, and environments. I literally am hard pressed to find something negative about this game in order to present a balanced review. I only hope we see more of this character or at least, more of The Expanse from Telltale (Amos -- HINT HINT)

The weakest Telltale game but still enjoyable Telltale's latest game is based on the TV series which I personally haven't watched. This review applies only to the game and the story presented in it. Positives: + Probably the best looking Telltale title so far (unless you like the style of the older games) + Zero G mechanic was "fun" to play around with + Fairly easy to get all achievements + The Archangel DLC adds a bit more length to the game overall. Negatives: - The story is very very short and the plot wasn't too interesting. It took me around 5 hours to complete all episodes. - The voice of the main protagonist Camina Drummer was a bit off for me (I don't know if she sounds the same in the TV series) - The characters weren't that interesting Overall: The reason I'm giving it a positive review is because I like telltale style games and I want more of their work to see the light of day. The game costs around $10 on sale which is a reasonable price I guess. If they put it in a bundle or it goes on a bigger sale it would be even more worth to get. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3146936266
