I recommend this game, conditionally. - It's really short. - It's probably not that engaging if you're new to The Expanse series (book or series). - It's a standard Telltale experience. If any of the above three statements put you off, don't get the game. But if you're into the Expanse, and still okay with a short and simple narrative adventure game in this year 2024 and beyond, its fun. Telltale does a pretty good job with the IP, given their skill sets. I think what the game REALLY stirs in me is my need for a much larger Expanse video game project. 6.5/10.

If you haven't watched the show I feel like this really wouldn't be worth it because there is very backstory or exposition. On the other hand, if you are a fan of the show, it is really fun to get back into the Expanse universe. Voice acting is great, especially Drummer, the fully 360 movement is unique & nicely done. It was over too quick but if you want to spend an evening listening to some beautiful lang belta pick up when on sale beratna.

The weakest Telltale game but still enjoyable Telltale's latest game is based on the TV series which I personally haven't watched. This review applies only to the game and the story presented in it. Positives: + Probably the best looking Telltale title so far (unless you like the style of the older games) + Zero G mechanic was "fun" to play around with + Fairly easy to get all achievements + The Archangel DLC adds a bit more length to the game overall. Negatives: - The story is very very short and the plot wasn't too interesting. It took me around 5 hours to complete all episodes. - The voice of the main protagonist Camina Drummer was a bit off for me (I don't know if she sounds the same in the TV series) - The characters weren't that interesting Overall: The reason I'm giving it a positive review is because I like telltale style games and I want more of their work to see the light of day. The game costs around $10 on sale which is a reasonable price I guess. If they put it in a bundle or it goes on a bigger sale it would be even more worth to get. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3146936266

Love it but...and it's a big but. I DO NOT RECOMMEND this game to those that have not watched the series or are not into Drummer as a character. This story is quite narrow in scope and is starring a lesser main character of the story. Drummer is my favorite character in the series, but I believe there is quite a bit those that haven't been properly introduced to her and the main story who will not understand. Her discovery is mind-blowingly significant, actually. You're not going to know that if you've not watched the show. It's the entire reason for the main story and all major conflicts! So before playing, if you like sci-fi, do yourself a favor and watch the series. It nods to real science, the story and characters are gripping and it will completely immerse you. So of course, that said, Drummer is an exceptionally charismatic and complex character. Playing her story is incredible - to me. But, I think a lot of people that don't know any better are going to be bored. I think this was a failure on the part of the writers. Providing a prologue to the story even in text format, would have gone a long way in helping people get invested and understand the story, why what she discovers is so huge, and even want to check out the books and (one of my top 5 all-time-faves Sci Fi) television series. Unfortunate, really. Also, it's just too damn short, like all Telltale Games, tbh. I don't know if I'm being unreasonable, however. It take a LOT of development and art hours to go into video games. On the flipside it takes players minutes to eat content that took months to make by many, many on the dev team. Ending on a positive note: I liked the story a lot. The designers did a terrific job giving the player a pretty good idea of what it is like to live in zero g, where the floor isn't always the floor, but the walls and ceilings of buildings and ships are for walking with mag boots too. Because, in zero g, "up" is is at most relative and at least, meaningless.
