The Consuming Shadow may be simple, but it offers a surprisingly memorable experience. The game’s atmosphere is tense and unsettling, and the gameplay, while basic, really keeps you engaged as you try to survive in a world full of strange horrors. The random generation of events adds replayability, and the minimalist style works well to create an eerie, mysterious vibe. It’s not a complex game, but it definitely leaves an impression. 7,5/10 Simple but effective, it’s a great experience for those looking for a unique horror game.

It's of course rough around the edges, and on first viewing one might mistake it for an old flash title, but the game design and writing are both impeccable, and at the end of the day, isn't that all that really matters? It's ambitious, bold, and experimental. Maybe a little too big for its britches, as the combat doesn't quite live up to the rest of the gameplay, but an extremely solid and unique experience in general. 9/10

This game is the poster child for the phrase "don't judge a book by its cover". The screenshots absolutely betray the game's atmosphere. On the surface, it just looks like a flash game from 2002, but underneath it is so much. Seriously recommend for any fans of horror. If you're a fan of games like Withering Rooms and World of Horror especially, you definitely need to play this.

Took me 9 years to finally play it after buying it to support the creator, I regret sleeping on it, the logic puzzle of figuring out the identity of the god and banishing them is really well done, and the writing is top notch. Warrior for the win, Gabie smash!
