June 2025
TLDR: This one is imho, Criminally under-rated if you're into TDS. Only 6.7% of players Reset their talents and only 2.7% of players died 100 times. = Nobody really seemed to actually give this game the chance it deserved. The graphics are phenominal, the story isn't as bad as people make it out to be. Sure, it's not shakespear but ffs it's a TDS, we're here to shoot sh1t and look good while doing it. I think where this game sufferes isn't by any fault of it's own but merely as a consequence of the times. Yeah, you spend the entire game traveling afoot. So in a generation raised with COD style instant action shooters where combat is never ceasing, a game like this can feel "slow". Sometimes, you really are just traveling around, taking in the sights as you traverse the outstandingly well designed environments this game has to offer, occasionally encountering groups of mobs here and there. But see that's where "criminally underrated" comes to fruition here. I think so many who have "played" this game have just given up on it. Hell even I had a moment where I thought "Bruh, idk man, this is kind of slow". Because you can vendor purchase most every item in the game right out the gate. So you can transmog your character to look exactly how you want it, with the weapons you desire virtually immediately. Or so I thought. But once I trudged through the early/mid game and began to encounter mechs and suits and all the other awesome stuff, the gear quality started to improve and the sexiest of the armors began to drop. So if anything I think this game probably turns off folks that need more than a soiid gameplay loop, but demand and insist a "reward" system of some kind to keep them playing. I was perfectly content playing 80% of this game with the same gear I found pretty much early game. I upgraded my equipment, transmogged to look like a badass and then just enjoyed being a merc for hire. Because the combat just feels really good to me. The sound design is spot on (if you got solid headphones or surround sound it's a MUST), and once you start playing with all the gadgets you begin to realize that movement doesn't feel near as daunting as you'd once thought. Look. I'm not here to hold your hand and pat your back. FFS it's on sale right now for $7.49 (I paid full price, and I don't regret it). If you just want a game you can be a badass in, with some incredible visuals and sound design, just buy it. This is not a game that requires much brain power, just spend your points in a logically balanced manner and enjoy. I played on Normal and found it moderately difficult, and having just beat it after about 40 hours (twice as long as HLTB suggests it should take), honestly I'm already eager to play New Game + on hard..... and they tease that New Game + comes with new "tricks up their sleeve". The story ends on something of a cliff hanger that suggests a sequel, but based on the sales and reviews, it's hard telling if it'll happen or not. Though, personally, I surely hope to one day see a sequel.

(+) Absolutely amazingly detailed world with great worldbuilding to boot (This is pretty much the main selling point of the game) (+) Gameplay is great and addicting (for the first couple of hours) (+) Quite a few customization options with the use of transmog (not a big game, so not expecting much) (+) Runs buttery smooth 90% of the time on my mid end laptop (+) Decent 25+ hours game for a relatively cheap price (+) Some absolutely fun to use augmentations (LASERS!) and abilities (POCKET MECHS!) (-) Story is pretty basic, characters are all forgettable (except for my boy noghead) (-) Very simplistic mission designs (-) Several crashes and bugs (like getting stuck under an enemy mech) (-) Gameplay starts to overstay its' welcome and becomes repetitive by the last third of the campaign (-) Checkpoints in this game are absolutely shit, died half of the way in this incredibly long section? Do it all over again. (-) Meant to be played with friends, you're going to die lots of times playing alone due to massive enemy density in later areas (-) Lots, and I mean lots, of walking around, which is basically 60% of the game, with enemies littered throughout the map, I personally wasn't too bothered by this, but this will be off putting for many (-) This game softlocks itself from time to time by giving you sidequests to places that is inaccessible until you've progressed far enough in the campaign (it also won't tell you that you don't have access to these places yet either) In the end, I still personally enjoyed it, will probably forget it in a couple of months, but it was still pretty fun. (6,5/10)

Life is swell. Life is hell. You’re thrust as a mercenary, or better put an errand boy/girl, into one of the most astoundingly well made, believable cyberpunk universes I’ve seen in recent times. The amount of detail on display here is staggering. Rundown kebab joints, glitzy club entrances, favela-like neighborhoods, and pristine highrises all intermingle in giant arcologies, bathed in grimy neon lights, infused with scents, dirt, and sweat the multitudes roaming the streets produce. The amount of work that went into this is obvious, but it makes me wonder if a world this good was “wasted” on a game like this. It’s a shame that you’re quite often interrupted in the enjoyment of it by constantly spawning, tedious, droves of enemies that are mostly your only agency here, since you can’t do much with the rest of the world. Unless you count the civilians you will mow down in the chaotic battles, where the game won’t miss to chide you for it at every opportunity. I find that a weird decision since it has no consequences. What’s even more cranky is the very inconsistent difficulty of mob spawns, sometimes resulting in cheap deaths, regardless of the game’s difficulty setting. There are two ways of fast travel, metro stations and a taxi. But, there aren’t that many fast travel points, making backtracking quite a common thing. And you will backtrack a lot for all the loot and sidequests scattered around. All that without a run button and very little shortcuts. Slightly shameful. The story doesn’t even try to be something deep, and neither do the NPCs. Both are shallow, one-dimensional, and here only to serve the progress of your ramped up killing sprees. All main characters are also excessively wordy, which wouldn’t be a problem if they had something noteworthy to say and weren’t constantly repeating themselves, only using different words. You just end up getting mauled with exposition and strange terms. Quests, items, and in-game lore descriptions found in the Codex fare much better and are an interesting read.

- Main story is ok - Side quests are 95% fetch quests. - There's a lot of walking, even in an age where people have net-access. A LOT of walking. - Armour and weapons are ok. You'll stick to 1-2 guns for your whole playthrough, melee is pretty much an afterthought. - A lot of bugs. No widescreen support, you'll have to find a fix online or play super zoomed in. - Missing cut-scenes, spelling mistakes, unfinished entries. Feels uncooked. - Unplayable on a controller. The aiming is a jittery mess with little to no aim-assist (even at high). - Music is great. Good electro beats and "Ghost-in-the-shell-inspired" overtures. - Enviroments are some of the best I have seen in a cyberpunk game. A truly gritty cyberpunk universe, I almost feel this game would be better in first-person because of all the detail, grittiness and lighting. - Because of the above, some moments can feel quite cinematic. It has overall, good art direction. In short, a fun little Diablo-clone. With not a lot of depth, very few quality of life mechanics and a few bugs. The environments and atmosphere should be studied as they are very well done. Get it on a big discount for less than $10 imho.

A very good couch co-op game that you can play with a friend. I fell on some ice back two years ago and I could not walk for almost a week because I hurt the inside of my knee muscles and lower back. A friend came over to check on me every two days or so to make sure, I was eating and being able to care of basic needs. I bought and downloaded this game and we played it for almost eight hours straight the first night. We had no idea what kind of game it was, or the story, anything really. Just jumped into it. We had a lot of fun couch co-oping this game.
