The best example of indie developer. A love letter to sweet child times and expressions then rock was loud. Fun at its purest, leaves a unique aftertaste. Can't recommend it enough.

After eating 18g of magic truffles I had to stop playing upon meeting the alien, but only because my eyes rolled back and I could see the inside of my mind, it was beautiful chrome and colour. That first 20 minutes of the game was possibly the best 2 hours of my life, the sun soaked golden meadow and the autumn orange trees. The kids voice was delicious to my ears, I spent far too long listening to "Cafe Cliche. Their pastries are in the shape of a villain's gnarled grin." Looking forward to next time!

This is one of those games that stays with you long after you’ve finished it. I keep returning to it, this is my third time completing it across different platforms. It’s the music, with its magnetic pull, that constantly calls me back. What makes it truly special is how your playing breathes life into the soundtrack, transforming the ambient, cosmic tones into something vibrant and deeply personal. As I played, I couldn’t help but feel the influence of David Bowie, Jimi Hendrix, and the cosmic essence of Pink Floyd, their spirits seemed to resonate throughout the experience. The real magic, though, lies in the freedom to jam without any constraints. It felt like a creative releas, an opportunity to improvise, experiment, and shape the riffs in my own way. Every riff I played became a personal contribution to the soundtrack, making the experience unforgettable and uniquely mine.

A musical and colorful coming-of-age game with dreamlike art design and some funny parts in the story, which is suitable for players who are NOT looking for the next big challenge in a game. The Artful Escape is a visual and sound design work of art to play. Dialogues are quite well written, with some quirky humor and the voice actors have done a great job as well. If you're looking for your an action shooter or horror adventure game, keep surfing, there are waves just waiting for you. If you've studied art or call yourself some kind of musician claiming you loved playing video games all your life but you're more a pessimist kind of person and a grump, do whatever you want, you're lost anyway. But if you're one of those open-minded ones, down for a different experience than usual, then the game can also be an Artfulf Escape for you as it was for me. Edit (12/14/2024) Yesterday I had a very interesting conversation with a young aspiring game developer, at one point he asked me what it was like playing video games when i was his age and what has changed the most. A question like that can be answered in many different ways but immediately I thought of two very specific things. It was so much more fun playing games with friends back then because we met in real life and hung out together, had some good times and we were much more relaxed, more open minded. Then I told him about a certain friend of mine with whom it seems impossible to find a game that we could both play online, all those proposals were shot down with comments like: "what kind of stupid game is this? nah that's weird! oh I don't know" Then I was asked what kinda games this friend was playing at the moment and I replied: GTA5 on Playstation and Supremacy 1914, Cities: Skylines and Sims 4 here on Steam, from which we could not draw any conclusions. Then he said that he doesn't think he's that open-minded either, he mostly plays action and shooter games and nothing else. So let's try something I said and since I knew that this young person is also learning to play the guitar, I mentioned The Artful Escape and asked if he would play something like that. He said no but now that we've talked about all of that, he wants to give it a try.

Every once in a while, a game comes along that wasn't made with the intentions of making big money or selling dlc or even being on the front page of Steam for that matter. Sometimes games are made with absolute heart and soul, trying to spread the message of finding yourself or getting lost in a world that makes you take a step back from your own life for a moment. I can't begin to tell you how beautiful, how stunning, how thought invoking this game really was. I started it and could not put it down. It's not a long game. It's not trying to compete for longest play time. It's trying to send a message. I'm totally fine with that. I think you'll find yourself wanting to rock out and take tons of screenshots because it's hard to describe what it feels like to just jam on an alien planet in the Infinite Universe. So buy this game. It's the zen you need. It's a breath of fresh air from all the games out there trying to be a live service.
