I love this game. At 13$, what more can you ask for? -It has a story mode, with a story that kept grown ass adults struggling to breathe from laughter, yet still makes poignant points. If you don't understand the story, you're stupid, don't reproduce, you're what is wrong with the human race. -It has arcade mode for people with goblin gamer brain. Just want to smash and destroy! -The engine is flawless, with how much shit is happening on screen, no slow downs. This is an homage to a game I grew up playing, Rampage by Midway. I honestly feel this game is better than Rampage. Dear Midway, Hire Mr Loren Lemcke, to remake Rampage, just like Sega did with Christian Whitehead. Print infinite money. Sincerely, A fan of Midway Games

A very well made remake (re-imagining) of a rather dull game. Still we had a lot of fun playing it local co-op with a somewhat aggressive 4,5yo kid who just loves to indulge in bad behavior.

People have compared this game against Rampage. And yeah, I can see that. You're a freaky monster, you're gonna go knock over buildings and defend yourself against people fighting back. You'll get a few hours of enjoyment out of it. You can play it with some friends and get a few more hours of enjoyment. And that's fine. Don't judge a game strictly by how many hours you spend playing it, but by the quality of those hours. I'd rather have three great hours of fun against 4,000 hours of picking up dinosaur crap. So you're likely to get a few hours of playtime here. Are those good hours? I'm not going to compare this very much against the original Rampage, the only one I'm familiar with. Honestly, that Rampage was kind of a poor game in my experience, aught more than a coin-gobbler. This game isn't much deeper, in a sense, but it is inherently winnable. That's a key difference. It also comes with some plot, and that plot is what divides most folk. It's not really a deep game, really. Hit buildings with mighty monster fists. Kick people into the air or huck them through the blades of helicopters to dispose of them and the chopper. Kick trucks through buildings. Eat people if you're feeling peckish. Buildings tip over with some physics, so the artful use of selective destruction can make buildings domino into each other. Amuse yourself by launching people into the air, and then trying to hit them out of the air. The monsters look cute, the art is charmingly pixelly, so the implicit violence is kind of jarring, especially when it encourages you into acts of casual psychopathy. Unlike Rampage, this comes with a plot. Now, it's not the deepest of plots, and right from the off it's obviously satire with the subtlety of a sledgehammer. Everybody is fair game in it. Nobody is spared. There's a sub-game you can play where you can pop into the forums and see people getting sniffy about their chosen political alignment getting dunked on and reduced to an absurd stereotype. Everybody gets dunked on. I mean, it's a game about giant monsters (and a giant robot) kicking over buildings, an act you'd be hard-pressed to call subtle. The plot matches. Bosh! There's a subplot about gamers getting huffy about "plot" and the hypocracy of hating some kinds of violence and not others, and it's kind of hilarious going into the forums and reading posts from people doing exactly the things he predicted they'd do. Even when he called people out when they came in swinging, he showed a whole lot more restraint than I would have. He's my kind of folk. (PS: Loren, if you read this, I will totally buy you a drink.) So there's also shared-screen coop. I haven't tried that yet, but my wife (who is off on a business trip) did watch me streaming a bit and was smitten by the game, so we'll give it another go when she returns. You'll see that at https://www.twitch.tv/fdejeuner. Yeah, I put it down here because the kind of people I'd like as an audience are the sorts who read all this. Consider yourself invited, you're cool. So yeah, I had a great time. And I'll have a bit more of a great time to come. A+. It's not a very deep game, but it doesn't need to be when it's fun.

πŸ‘Ύ It's basically the modern, spiritual successor to Rampage but better. It does pretty much everything Rampage did but adds some really interesting ideas and improves on some classic ones. ✎ Pros πŸ”Ž β—Œ Endless mode: This is basically your classic arcade Rampage experience. No story or dialogue, just endless destruction. However, there's a whole bunch of fun settings, cheats, and options you can access in the pause menu. Most are locked until you complete a specific achievement. β—Œ Story Mode: In addition to Endless mode, there's a 4-6 hour story mode that's pretty good. It's dark, meta, funny, and cute. β—Œ Physics Engine: Everything on screen is basically working on a physics engine and it's super fun to mess with. Buildings can domino into other buildings, you can kick cars into helicopters or buildings. You can throw people into helicopters Each level is a fun rampage-like 2D destructive sandbox β—Œ Graphic: It's much more graphic than Rampage. Blood shoots out of all the people when they die, you can eat and murder kids, puppies, cats, old people in wheel chairs, and the story mode has a lot of dark humor. It all fits well β—Œ Visuals: The monster sprites are super cute, the environments (while not many) are well done, and the effects of all the destruction and chaos are great. β—Œ Combat: The combat is fairly simple, intuitive, and a large improvement over Rampage. It's a lot of fun for a while but it does get a bit stale by the end of the campaign since there's no variation or progression. This one's a bit of a pro and con. Better than Rampage but doesn't quite reach it's full potential. β—Œ Music: There's some nice 8-bit retro tunes (although there is unfortunately no track selector) ✎ Cons πŸ”Ž β˜’ Character Roster: There's only 4 characters to choose from. ⊷The's also 2 Story characters unlocked from doing specific achievements but they don't show up in the character select (only accessible through the pause/cheats menu, mid-game, in Endless Mode). β˜’ Combat Variation: All 4 main characters have their own "special" move, but all other moves are identical. ⊷They can punch, kick, eat, and grab/throw humans. ⊷They can also ground pound but only on the ground for some odd reason; not on top of a building like rampage, unfortunately. ⊷The 2 Story Mission characters have their own unique move sets. β˜’ Content: There's really not much in the way of unlockables or progression. After you finish the story, there's the Endless mode and the achievements (which unlocks the options, cheats, and settings for Endless mode when you press pause) and that's it. I'd love some more post-game content. It's a blast and i want more reasons to keep coming back for more β–Όβ–Όβ–Όβ–Ό Suggestions β–Όβ–Όβ–Όβ–Ό πŸ¦– Unlockable characters/secret characters. More characters! I'd gladly pay for a character pack DLC. πŸ¦– Unlockable track selector you get as you progress. πŸ¦– Collectables you can get from doing different challenges. πŸ¦– Move sets for each character. They don't have to be entirely different but a little variation would go a long way. πŸ¦– A minigame mode, where you can play the minigames from the story mode on endless. πŸ¦– A Survival mode with progression. Each level get's harder. At the end of each level you can select an attribute like Health, Strength, Speed, Jump, ect. to increase. πŸ¦– Mod support 〄 Overall, it's great and if you like Rampage, this is a must. To out-do a classic is an impressive feat. 〄

This game was great!! It was simple and a bit repetitive but in a fun way. The bashing is legitimately satisfying the pixel graphics are really well done and the story... I have not laughed so hard at the writing in video games in quite a while. It's a little anti-capitalist and glorifies bloodshed or at least pixelshed. The game-play has surprising variety built in and the 2D physics engine does make smashing buildings fun. Whether you accomplish it by: punching, kicking a tank through, or use your ultimate roar to do it. Destroying chunks and giant explosions while watching skyscrapers tumble is always satisfying. I thought the pacing was also good. I got new abilities and new things to smash on at an even and entertaining rate and nothing outstayed its usefulness. Obviously given the subject matter (note the child being eaten on the store page) The story is a bit dark, so I'm not sure it will be for everyone.
