May 2026
I bought the game on PS5 first, I played an infinite number of games and I play this game everyday. I bought it on Steam because I wanted to support the game's creator. As a veteran of tennis games since the 90s, after playing my first exhibition match my reaction was what kind of bs is this game??? Some time later... ...when I finally managed to configure the camera to my needs ...when I turned off all those annoying on-screen assist indicators I am stunned and blown away by how good this game is. Link to my Top Spin 4 style camera setup in TE4 below: https://steamcommunity.com/app/760640/discussions/0/598528666219113330/ ***UPDATE 1*** The graphical and animation shortcomings cease to matter the moment you start playing, this is how great this game is. The possibilities of using mods...changing the resolution, disabling vsync and playing in 4k 120fps...on console are absolutely unprecedented. The absolute best tennis since Top Spin 4. ***UPDATE 2*** In three days I have spent over 15 hours in this game, a similar situation has not happened to me in the past 10 years...and the longer I play the more I want to play. I go so far as to say that this is the best tennis game ever made. This is a spiritual experience on the scale of a Eurosport match with the ability to control the players :) For reference and comparison, I played Top Spin 4 on an Xbox emulator for an hour, which had been my holy grail for years... and immediately felt discomfort and the lack of that decisive something. Better is the enemy of good, and in this case, without a doubt, the king is dead, long live the new king. ***UPDATE 3*** Almost 40 hours played and I haven't been a big gamer for a long time and I don't like spending too much time in video games. I play this like a maniac, I turn it on whenever I have a moment of peace and enjoy the gameplay...because all the elements of this game guarantee immediate satisfaction. In its category, nothing even comes close to this game, it's Expedition 33 in the category of tennis games. If you think that Top Spin or Tiebreak might be better...you're wrong ...I guarantee that after the first few games you will change your mind. ***UPDATE 4*** OPTIMIZATION I recently had the opportunity to test the game on a less powerful computer. Setup: GTX 1070, Ryzen 5 1600, and 16 GB of RAM, the game runs smoothly at over 60 fps in 4K at maksimum graphical settings with 3d courts enabled. ***Final UPDATE*** The game goes to my top 10 games of all time. It's the canon in the tennis game category, and should be the bible for future designers. Words and YT videos do not even begin to capture the genius of this game's design and playability. I play and will continue to play until TE5 eventually comes out. The author should teach design principles at a university and so- called big companies should learn from him. This is the only game, I'm an extreme fanatic of and I won't agree with any negative opinion about :)

I’ll start off by saying this is hands down the best tennis sim out there. I’ve spent a fair amount of time playing other tennis games, and while many have better graphics or flashier presentations, the gameplay eventually starts to feel narrow and predictable. It’s the complete opposite with TE4. The more you play, the more it opens up. It definitely has a steep learning curve, as you have to learn how to position yourself properly to hit the ball at the right spot, set up your shots for better accuracy, and adapt to different court surfaces, each with different speed, friction, and bounce behavior, all adding another layer of depth to the gameplay. There are so many nuances that I do not see myself ever fully mastering it, and that is exactly how real tennis works. Although it takes dedication to git gud , it’s also surprisingly beginner friendly. You can enable plenty of assists to help you get the hang of things, and there are 6 base levels of difficulty, each containing 10 sublevels. Between the training school, the ball machine, and the warm up sessions, you have everything you need to improve. I’ve spent plenty of time just hitting balls in the warm up mode, and it really shows how satisfying the core gameplay is once everything clicks. The career mode is probably the most in depth I have ever seen, especially with the addition of Tennis Elbow Manager 2, which expands an already great mode even further. You can start as a junior at 14 or turn pro at 18, but working your way up the rankings is no easy task. The game tracks an impressive amount of stats like forehand and backhand power, precision, consistency, topspin rate, volleys, lobs, drop shots, counters, return, passing shots… the list goes on, and you can really feel how all those attributes play a role in every match. As great as the base game is, the mods are what truly complete the experience. There is an in-game mod manager that lets you download content like updated player databases and real stadiums directly from the main menu. It works flawlessly. Tennis Elbow 4 feels like a true labor of love and I strongly recommend it, as it has easily become one of my favorite games of all time.

Best tennis game maybe ever... Mod support lets you play career mode against current/former real players. Realistic gameplay. Have played the other games with more photo-realistic graphics, but they are borderline unplayable compared to Tennis Elbow 4. Tennis fans deserve a good game and this one delivers.

10/10 Tennis simulator. It's the best tennis game from a gameplay perspective that I have come across on any platform. I've found myself shanking backhands, completely whiffing easy volleys, double faulting on break points, completely mis-timing easy put away shots, and choking away 40-0 leads for no reason... just as I do in real life. Perfect simulation of how I attempt to play tennis! This game rewards you for mastering the mechanics, as I quickly found myself improving the more I play this game. Now if only i could improve as fast in real life as I did in this game. It's extremely impressive how the developer is able to capture the feeling of tennis into just a controller. Highly recommended game.
