Never played any taiko games before osu, the game feels really well polished and fun. The only gripe i have is that the game is 50 bucks for essentially nothing. (Not mentioning that after 5 hours i already had to buy dlc to not get bored).

The main question people get when they see this is "why this $80 mess when i can play o***?? theres even a monthly dlc subscription???". I asked this too about DJMAX and the answer was simply about licensing. When you pay for this game you support the artists that contributed to the song list. Other games are stealing the songs for charts since they never ask the artists themselves for permission. You also support the charters, and I'd say the quality of charting in this game is more standardized and consistent. But if the price isn't for you, it's okay! There's nothing stopping you from playing alternatives. Personally, this plus my Taiko Force Lv6 is the closest I can ever get to a real arcade Taiko experience, since where I live in barely has an audience for taiko, let alone functioning taiko cabs. Technically helps my wallet too since this game is getting closer to being my favorite rhythm game, and so it balances out my expenses in the long term if we did have taiko cabs (speaking as someone who's spent $1200 and counting on maimai)

it sucks that most of the songs are behind another paywall after the game is already so expensive, but it's a really fun game. with the pass there are so many great songs all with several levels of difficulty, so at least it's good value for the extra charge. one of the best parts for me is the training mode. im not very good, so it's been awesome to be able to slow down the songs and understand the beat before getting to full speed. also the story is adorable. if you're into rhythm games and don't mind the subscription i would definitely recommend this game.

Great rhythm game, happy to see this series on Steam. I encountered some issues with dropped/unresponsive inputs while using a Gamo2 Taikoller drum, but was able to resolve this using the following settings: - Set Taikoller to Switch mode (no idea why keyboard mode doesn't handle properly) - Disable Steam Input (right click game in library > Properties > Controller > Override) - Set in game control type to "Drum" Only needed these tweaks for the Taikoller specifically; regular gamepads and keyboard both worked fine out of the box.

Pretty good port and Taiko on PC is finally freed from the Microsoft Store (I dont mind EGS, GOG etc but MS Store simply sucks), aside from an RPG mode, this is best of both worlds for Taiko, having both a party mode, an online mode and training mode. But as weird as it may sound for someone who usually doesn't like mtx in premium games: the fact you can pay a small amount of money to a massive library of songs from across the entire series is this one's best aspect.
