Best twin-stick shooter on the market. Synthetik 2 has the right balance of careful planning and execution. Pulling off ultra close fights feels so good. The drops are many, varied, and interesting. They change the way you approach situations. No two runs feel quite the same. Many roguelites strive to accomplish what Synthetik has, and fail.

I was a little hesitant at first but after playing some more I'm confident that with just a little more polish this game will be solidly better than the original, which is coming from someone with over 180 hours in Synthetik 1. If you haven't played the original i'd still recommend playing it first though as it's a much less overwhelming introduction to the mechanics. I do have one major gripe with the game though and it's something I've never had nearly as much of a problem with in any other game: The UI is AWFUL . Not the in game HUD, that's actually great. But navigating menus in this game is somehow more confusing and overwhelming than the actual gameplay. Just an example to give you an idea: as far as I know there is no way to directly start a new run after dying. You have to exit out of the game over screen back to the menu and then navigate through two seperate menus just to get back to the class select screen. The UI in its current state actively harms the game experience and needs a complete rework.

The game has reached a state where I prefer playing this over Synthetik 1 most of the time as of now.

Yes. This is the one. Great game and getting better all the time. It has surpassed Synthetik One + user mods built in + hundreds of weapons + fast game play + limitless build combos

It's SYNTHETIK 1, but with a 3D twist. So far it was pretty nice to play, difficulty seems to be on par, and I love the new classes they've added. I might be biased, because I'm pretty familiar with the first game, it's mechanics and different button shortcuts, so playing this one felt comfortable and intuitive for the most part. I don't know how it's going to go for a new player. Visually it's more chaotic than the first game, the game bombards you with visual effects. Camera is too zoomed out for my liking, so it would be nice to have an option to zoom it in just a little bit. It was really easy to distinguish between different enemy types in the first game, not so much in this one. It might be just me being unfamiliar with this version. The UI definitely needs work, though. At least position-wise. The global chat in S1 is still arguably it's best feature, but there is no reason to have it in the middle. The combination of heat gauge + ammo counter + healthbar & shields in the middle was a godsend in S1. This game separates everything into different parts of the screen. As of now you need to dart your eyes around all over the screen to get the info you need. So, bringing back the old layout (or having an option of having everything fill it's classic position on screen!) would be a good place to start. Other than that? Hell yeah! This looks promising and I'm all in for another SYNTHETIK game.
