Given how common it is to compare this to Beat Saber, I have to admit that it's difficult to say which one I like more. At first I wasn't sold on Synth Riders. The majority of the songs that come with it unfortunately didn't do much for me, and I personally am not a huge fan of the Vaporwave/Synthwave visual aesthetic in general, but you can't talk about anything Beat Saber-related without taking custom songs into consideration. There's plenty of fun custom songs you can get and the modifiers keep the gameplay interesting (big fan of Force+Spin). The main part I really like is that, compared to Beat Saber, it feels more like you're dancing (or at least, the gameplay feels like it encourages you to dance along) It's really grown on me and I'm enjoying it. Pretty fun way to get some movement into your day.

Personally, I think the only thing Beat Saber does better than Synth Riders is the songs it comes with. Synth Riders outperforms Beat Saber in all other aspects by a thousand miles. Think of Beat Saber as playing DJMAX game in VR, and Synth Riders as playing Just Dance in VR with superior movement detection. I guess it just comes down to what you are looking for in a rhythm game. Are you looking for a game where you play an instrument along with music (the instrument being the sabers), or are you looking for a game that makes you dance to the music. As for custom songs, the selections for Beat Saber are somehow still better than Synth Riders. Though you can still find a pretty good selection of custom songs for Synth Riders from Synth Riderz website.

I initially tried this a long while back after I'd been into Beat Saber for a good while. The game didn't click with me back then. About a year later I gave it another try and this time I really got into it. The way you move feels so much better and naturally flowing to the point that I get absolutely lost in the song, like I'm a part of it. As weird as that may sound, I truly feel that way at times. Once you get a great song with some solid mapping, the experience can be quite euphoric. Without a doubt one of my favourite VR games and I highly recommend it.

It's like when you're in your car and it's a perfect day, you got the stereo blasting, you know that really awesome feeling? That's what playing this game is like. It's like being at an awesome roller skating rink and your favorite song is playing, you're moving thru the lights bouncing to the beat. This game is so fun, and the music is SO GOOD, I'm really glad I lived long enough to play a game like this. It's like Tron and Xanadu and the best 80's/90's club and maybe a little S.T.U.N. Runner all in one amazing virtual world that I never want to leave. *Playing with Steam Index no problems

I was depressed last night, and decided to try out this game for a little bit. (First time playing) Five songs later, I was so exhausted (and sweaty, and happy) that I completely forgot what I was upset about in the first place. This game is awesome. It just makes me think... "Man I wish one of these rhythm games had a cool campaign/story mode."
