It is my favorite visual novel. But I've played it somewhat 15 years ago, and I can tell it didn't age well. Don't get me wrong, I still love it for the vibe and romance. And I also like all 3 girls very much, especially Torta. No one deserves happiness more than her. But playing it now, when I'm almost 40, I can see just how flawed it is. For the music lover and past musical student like me it holds the very special place in my heart, and that will probably never change, but I wish they've updated the writing for the remaster. Sometimes it feels that the old fan translation was written better and more consistent.

very good story, early route makes me asking a lot of "why", then the plot twist answered it lol amazing music ( phorni voice is soooo good ) i also really liked the music minigame, especially on the graduation recital, it makes me feel that i need to play good to graduate the story didn't make me cry, but it does hurt me in some other way i dont know how to explain it, like its a sadness that hurts, not a sadness that makes me cry phorni route kinda okay for me cuz i already expected 90% of what happened there lol, but still its a good route, but i kinda like it if they explain more about why arietta become phorni

A hidden gem of a visual novel that doesnt get enough attention for how good it is. Story is kind of a period piece set in Italy with the main focus being music, with some beautiful tracks troughout the story. Interesting to note is that the characters are very down to earth, with a story that practically has no anime tropes you might see on other VNs, so its definitely set it apart from the rest. The game has various rythm minigames sprinkled troughout the story, and they are actually quite hard. Hopefully you can set this sections to autoplay while you enjoy the cozy music playing, or you can hold ESC for 1 second to skip the section if you dont want to. You can also play the rythm game from the title screen so theres even less worry about skipping them in the story. The artstyle reminds me of those 70-80s animes aimed at girls, very cute and charming. it also has some good voice acting (notable is the voice actress Mai Nakahara, who also voiced Rena from Higurashi when they cry, and Nagisa from Clannad) The game has a bunch of routes to pick, and a second half of the game, plus a final route that beatufully ends the story. As for negatives, I would say that the game starts out VERY slow, mostly if you decide to begin with what is supposed to be the main route, so its best to just start with wathever route you like best. Game also has an option to skip already read text which helps alot (tho it looks like a fast forward icon on the right of the text box) Recommended with he highest of praises, an incredibly cozy experience.

This game has some of the most beautiful vocal music I've heard. It also has a great setting, in a rainy town in Southern Italy, with accompanying Italian girls as heroines. Charming art for its age, a great OST composed by Okazaki Ritsuko, god rest her soul, and a thoughful story that isn't what it initially seems makes this a great VN.

2 of the 3 heroine routes are great, the 2nd to last route was very good, the final route was a little boring but had a very good end. A very well written VN, highly recommend to any VN fan who hasn't read this yet. 9/10
