Pretty solid game, there's a campaign that you play through to learn the ropes and unlock all of the characters to use in multiplayer, but obviously the multiplayer is where you're expected to spend most of your time. The multiplayer is a completely COOP experience, no PVP. There's a basic coop mode where you run through a normal mission with a party of 4, but there's 5 parties in each mission, so you have 20 players total, but each party is sent to their own section of the map which overlaps during certain points, so it's kind of cool because at first you're doing objectives with just your party and as you progress you temporarily combine parties to complete even bigger objectives and then ultimately all parties join up at the end to fight the end boss. There's also a raid boss mode where you just go straight into the big boss battle with 20 players and just try and take down the big boys. Aside from that there's something called free roam which I haven't spent too much time on, but it is a good way to just grind resources and learn a character without feeling like you need to focus on completing objectives. The game is just really fun, I haven't watched the anime or played any of the previous games, so I cannot comment on that aspect, but the loop is fun and the different playstyles linked to the various different character archetypes is really fun.

Wait for a Sale, the only thing you do in the game is grind character levels on the same missions to get cosmetics. All characters have 3 preset skills/attacks, there is no customization except for clothes and weapon skins.

So, I've been playing this game a lot the past few days and I personally think the game is worth it for you if: -> You like grinding. -> You don't mind doing the 2-3 hour story (skipping in this scenario) to unlock all characters. -> You don't mind getting punished for spamming attacks, that's right. Some people say the gameplay is "clunky" however, it is very responsive for me. I have been playing on the Asia server with ~200 ping and I have had 0 issues. People think the combat is clunky because you actually get punished for spamming attacking without dodging/guarding when you clearly have the opportunity to. This game has crossplay across all consoles + pc, definitely something that will help keep the game lively for sure, you can play with anyone. I will not say the game is perfect by any means because, it is not. It has flaws for sure, I heard people got softlocked here and there, mostly in freeroam, but, surely it'll get fixed. I also heard of someone relogging and losing their item that they had before logging out which also is a major issue. The real question: Is it worth $60? This is only a yes if you feel like investing a lot of time in a chill grindy game whether it's solo online(with randoms/AI) or with friends. If you are a completionist and into the story, then the yes becomes more transparant. I did not finish the story myself since I prefer the online play but, for the completionists the story is nice I've heard and you'll have a good amount of stuff to collect.
