The flash version of this game was basically the Smash Bros of my childhood. Anytime I had access to a PC with an internet connection and a few friends around, I'd jump at the chance to play it. So you can imagine my surprise when, years later, I stumbled upon an improved version of the game on Steam. Of course, I instantly bought it and gave it a try. It was just as fun as I remembered, but with a few exceptions. First off, the game has become much more complex and deeper than before. There are now features like weapon slots, reloading, blocking, kicking, grabbing and more. In terms of controls, almost every button on the controller is now utilized, but they don't feel as intuitive and fun to use. Back in the day, all you needed were four directional buttons and four action buttons. I understand the appeal of adding new mechanics and improving on old ones, but one of the things I loved most about the Flash version was its accessibility and ease of understanding. Almost all my friends could pick up and grasp the mechanics within the first two rounds. In this new version, however, you really need to complete the tutorial first, and even after that, it's easy to forget all the controls if you haven’t played for a while. Secondly, there are some technical issues. It might be unfair to criticize the game for not supporting the Steam Deck (especially since support for the game ended long before the Steam Deck was available), but it would have greatly benefited this kind of game. I tried every solution available online to make it work, but to no avail. A more important issue I encountered was the inability to connect two controllers for local play - both were registering as one controller. Maybe it’s something to do with my controllers, but again, I tried nearly every solution possible, and none worked. The only solution was to buy another copy and play online with my friend. To be fair, that worked really well, and there are still plenty of players online today. But you can see how this isn't the ideal solution for someone who loved the game for being simple, easy-to-set-up couch co-op fun. But now, let me tell you why I went through all this trouble to make the game work. For me, this game is the closest thing you can get to a John Woo movie, compressed into a pixelated fighting game. Players can grab and kick each other in mid-air, knock out weapons, throw them, pick up and use props, take cover, and leap from rooftops in true Max Payne style (with slow-mo, of course). The amount of physics interaction in each level is insane. You can be blown up, smashed or set on fire - pretty much everything in the level can affect the fight. All these systems interact to create incredibly cinematic, spectacular battles. And this version adds so much new content: different modes, new weapons, tons of new levels, online play, a level editor, Workshop support, and more. Yes, the game has its problems: the UI/UX is quite small and unwieldy imo, making it hard to find what you're looking for. There's also the aforementioned gamepad connectivity issue (for me atleast). And i can definitely see how the graphics might be unappealing to some (i really enjoy them tho). But if you're REALLY into good couch co-op fighters, it would be a crime not to give this game a try. I've played many different games in this genre, and despite its flaws, this one is definitely among the best.

The First Superfighters game is a Historical mark, it was really a nice game on the late Adobe Flash Engine that we all used to play on early 2000s - mid 2010s. This new one is a Complete Remake, with almost all weapons, stages from the previous one, alongside new Stages, Weapons, some new moves such as grapple your enemies, hang on edges of walls, use Strenght syringes, etc. There's a lot of character customization, hats, gloves, shirts, coats, masks, pretty much anything. Overall is a nice game to play with friends. Now, to the negative aspects. The Servers are Dead, so it's either play with friends or bots, and the bots are pretty much cheaters, unfair, frustating to fight against, especially if you die you have to wait the bots to die to start a new match, also Sometimes just a kick is enough to make your character flew away and fall to death. Some moves don't work and are slow, especially sprinting where sometimes doesn't work and you fall to your death on jumping. In other words, only buy if you have a friend to play or really miss the old game, besides, development pretty much stopped in 2021 since there's no new updates since. 8.5/10

When I was in school, I would play the original Flash version of this game everyday on the school computers with my friends. Then we discovered the developers had created a full and actual version of the game. It didn't disappoint, it never did. Doesn't matter how dead the severs are, if you have at least 1 friend to 1v1 against, this game will last a lifetime.

Superfighters Deluxe offers an adrenaline-fueled single-player and multiplayer experience where players engage in fast-paced, pixelated battles that are both intense and highly entertaining. With a variety of weapons, dynamic environments, and interactive elements, every match is a thrilling mix of strategy and chaos. It's a shame the community isn't as thrilling as it was back in the FLASH days, however it's nice to see community made content every once in a while. 9/10
