Clarification: My opinion might be biased because I like this kind long-text/visual-novel and tactical RPG game, my best advice would be look for a youtube video with the gameplay and make your own choise. It isn't for everyone because you need to have some patience, dialogs are long like those from gacha games but the bright side you don't have to pay to get the characters you like (outside from buying the DCL and in that case you aren't gambling like in a gacha). In general this game is very beginner friendly, if you like the japanese mechas seen in Animes, you are going to be at home playing this game. It is highly recommended to play it with a controler if you have one. Once you start playing you need to decide your protagonist gender but the important part is your birthdate, make sure to always use November 11th and Blood type 'B'. You get a good start with your protagonist skills that saves your other mechas units from missing enemies shots or to avoid damage early game. Next is WHERE you want to start your game, this only affects which mechas you get at the start of the game. At the end you are going to get all the non-secret mechas just in a different order. Earth Route is all about series where robots fight aganist gigant monters (Mazinger, Getter Robo, SSSS.GRIDMAN, etc) Space Route is Mecha vs Aliens or other Robots. I chose this one (Majestic Prince, Mobile Suit Gundam NT, Heavy Metal L-Gaim, etc) If you can, play it with all the DLCs. You can get some good items to equip your meachas and make your run far more enjoyable with their quality of life aditions like more movement, Experience boosters, buffs for all your units for a single turn or max out moral at the start for a single unit. Had a weird bug that couldn't allow me to take screenshots once I checked the DLC shop in game. If you want to buy the DLC do it from Steam before you start up the game. The game is a wild run to be honest, I only play it for the 'Rayearth' characters and because I like the mechas. I got more than I asked for, the game had the JP VA, their anime theme plays when they attack and they have their signature moves from their animes. The other anime series I was unfamiliar with them, I know is better to experience them in their source material animes but they realy made a good effort to bring them together and have them interact with each other. I grew found of some characters I neved knew they existed until I played this game (Team Rabbits, Jona Basta, Amuro Ray, Lelouch, Ryoma Nagare, Ray Lundgren, Ichiro Ogami, Akihiro Altland and some originals like 'Gilliam Jaeger', 'Masaki Andoh' and 'Caruleum Vaull'). The game had some good maps but you will play on them once or twice. The best maps are from 'Heavy Metal L-Gaim' and 'SSSS.GRIDMAN'. The best mission for Rayearth is the final battle aganist Zagato Most of the times the maps you can replay (to level up some new mecha or older one you couldn't deploy before) are somehow repetitive and boring after a while, might be my only complain. The good news is that you have an auto play option, the bad news is that it gets stuck when you kill a boss (called 'Ememies ACE Pilots' ) and needs manual input to close their dialogs; sometimes you can cancel unintentionally the auto battle when you close those dialogs. If you enjoy a mecha but its early attacks are hard to handle, try using the DLC supporter "Orga" from "Mobile Suit Gundam Iron-Blooded Orphans" he fixes almost evey unit. Just play with the mechas you like over gameplay reasons(protagonist of each of their series almost always have at least two broken skills: 'Intuition', 'Resolve' and 'Seal'). Ignore the skills in that case and make a Morale/Ex-Multi Action build, almost every mecha is compatible with that build, belive me you are going to enjoy the game more that way (Always deployed Rayearth trio after they joined). You can check this web site for a deeper game progresion guide: https://akurasu.net/wiki/Super_Robot_Wars/30 Only managed to "Clear" the game, didn't start 'the post game', but might do once I clear some back log games. Hope you enjoy the game as much as I did. This is a hidden gem in steam. PS: Cleared the game with a party composition like this one: 1.- Maxed out the main protagonist Mecha and installed all the available skills (CCQ, RNG and SKL to 999) make sure to add 'Hit & Run', 'Fighter's Spirit', 'Morale+', 'Break Morale Limit', 'Ignore Size', 'Attacker','Dash' 'Full Counter', 'ExC Bonus', 'Second Attack','SP Recovery', 'Save B' and 'Save E' NOTE: The trick is to use the Ex Command "Multi Action" before you attack to have an extra turn and keep using the spirit skill "Resolve" to get other 5 Ex points to reactivate "Multi Action" and clear with a single unit all the bosses on the map. 2.- Other 17 mechas I liked and altenated them each mission to make sure they always get at least 1 kill per mission. 3.- Maxed out the 'Dreisstrager' (main blue ship) with all its 'AOS Updates', belive me you need to get ALL the updates from ALL the available skill trees BEFORE you start unlocking the parts at the end of each skill tree. 4.- 2 Extra ships outside of your main ship (these are limited only managed to get 4 because some are hidden with secret requirements)
