Many will find themselves on this steam page, considering it for the nostalgia hit alone. But everything you remember is here - and in spades. This game and series were unbelievably ahead of their time. In the scope of 2D platformers, I honestly don't think I've played a more fluid, responsive, and just all around stylish and expressive one. The game just feels absolutely great to run around in. This honestly might be the best feeling 2D platformer ever, and that's among the likes of Celeste, Tropical Freeze, Rayman Origins, etc. Every bit of animation is on point, every jump feels like it goes pretty precisely where you want it to, your airborne control is on point, the worlds are colourful and the level design nothing short of exceptional. Each new area adds in some new quirk to traversal, portals, springs that push or pull you into the background or foreground, screens that wrap around on themselves. The game is not without a few minor faults. It crashed a few times, but every time after reopening the program, i had lost absolutely ZERO progress, which is to be appreciated because twice it happened coming out of challenge rooms, which can be tough. The game ends with a 'to be continued' screen without much fanfare or even a credits screen, which I think is by design, so that the player will flow through this extremely flow-y game once again. And there are a couple of jumps or challenges in the last two areas that dont feel super considered, but nothing you wont find your way through in a handful of tries. Play this game. It's tight, it's sweet, it's breezy, it's outstandingly designed, and it's everything your nostalgia remembers FPA to be and way, way more of everything that was good about it. This game absolutely deserves your time. I can't wait for a follow up, hoping one ever comes (I don't know if one is in development). I'd give this game a 9/10. It's exceptional. I wish there was more of it, and that's about it. And that's high praise.

some of the most fluid movement and combat in any game at all. can't recommend it enough! (also the guy's pants are way fancier than you could ever imagine no lies detected)

I love this game, but I see right through to what it *could* have been. This clearly pushed Brad to some new limits with how he makes videogames and it's apparently clear that he's getting a little old to be doing this all by himself like in the Flash days. I just wish that he could get an actual budget with a full team and realize the actual potential of this game and what it could have been-- and I hope they realize that idea in the sequel, if it's coming at all. I think you SHOULD play this game, especially if you want to get into game design. This is a prime example of what happens when someone has an ambitious idea, slaves away at it for god KNOWS how long, and then promptly has to cut out bundles of it purely so they can finish it. This is Brad's Halo 2. His Half-Life. His "Watch for Rolling Rocks in 0xA Presses." And I hope when he finally does come out of it, he'll create another masterpiece.
