Super Chibi Knight is a spiritual successor (or rather, a sequel) to an old Flash game from the golden days of browser gaming—back when those were still around and thriving. Thankfully, you don’t need to have played the original Chibi Knight to understand the story of Super Chibi Knight. At its core, Super Chibi Knight is a hack-and-slash game with some RPG elements, wrapped up in a colorful, charming art style. The game was created by a passionate father who handled the coding and artwork, while his then 8-year-old daughter voiced the main protagonist—a fun little detail that adds to the game’s charm. The game features simple controls, nice visuals, and easy-to-learn mechanics. The story itself is as straightforward as it gets: a big bad villain threatens the world, and a chosen child must rise to save the day. Very Zelda-esque. The world is semi-open, allowing for some freedom in quest selection, and certain quests even have different outcomes depending on your choices. There are two routes you can take: The Beast Tamer path, which makes the game feel like a walk in the park. The Mage path, which turns the experience into a clunky, low-budget Dark Souls run. In my opinion, the Beast Tamer route is overpowered, while the Mage path is a wasted opportunity. Mana doesn't regenerate, so you’re forced to either scavenge for MP potions or—more absurdly—kill yourself and respawn with full HP and MP. Since there's no real penalty for dying, this turns the whole mechanic into a joke. Difficulty-wise, the only real challenge is completing the entire game as a Mage without dying once—which is more frustrating than rewarding. The final boss is disappointingly easy, and enemies sometimes behave strangely, making it awkward or even impossible to hit them. All in all, Super Chibi Knight is okay. I enjoyed playing it, but nostalgia probably played a big role in keeping me invested. The game is fun, though, and I'd recommend it only if you have fond memories of the original Flash game. It frequently goes on sale for just a few cents, so if you’re curious, you won’t be losing much by giving it a shot. It's short, but it has its charm. TL;DR [*]Sequel to an old Flash game (Chibi Knight), but you don’t need to play the original. [*]Hack-and-slash with RPG elements, colorful graphics, and simple mechanics. [*]Developed by a father, with his 8-year-old daughter voicing the main character. [*]Semi-open world with multiple quests, some having different outcomes. [*]Two playstyles: [*]Beast Tamer → Overpowered, easy mode. [*]Mage → Feels broken, no mana regen, requires potions or respawning to refill MP. [*]No real penalty for dying, making difficulty trivial. [*]Final boss is disappointingly easy, and some enemies behave awkwardly. [*]Best enjoyed for nostalgia, otherwise, it's just an okay experience. [*]Only recommend if you liked the Flash game, but it’s cheap on sale, so worth a try.

Pretty good, I guess better than flash version since it's the full game. However be wary to not cringe from old memes.

Visually it was interesting, as for the combat parts, well... no, I was just going forward by just leveling up and brutally tanking and destroying everything without a care because combat is very random, the worst is surely the boss where you need to use the shovel as the hitboxes are almost non existant combined with the worst combat system just for that occasion. The parts where you use beasts are probably the most interesting ones. Maybe remaking it properly would be very interesting to see

Linux build doesn't work for me. Proton didn't work without tweaking, either. To make the game work, it requires the following launch option in the properties to be able to start on Linux, using Proton, for me: PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 %command% Then it seems to work great.

Yet another cute Flash game in spirit, chockful of Newgrounds-era quirkiness, simplicity and then some. As a result, both its strengths and weaknesses derive from the game being as such, but seeing as that takes ~2 hrs per playthrough, anything holding this game down isn't too much of a deal-breaker. + Astonishingly snappy pacing in simple controls and absolutely no in-between fluff + Cosmetics act as satisfying incentive to level-ups - Flat combat leads to occasional one-sidedness in difficulty - Lack of maps in dungeons
