Cool combination of point & click & turn based combat. Wish it was longer, for the price. Pros: + cool futuristic story + not too wordy + addictive + ability to see dialog and skip it + characters do not walk to the location but appear straight next to it, which saves a bunch of time + cool mini-games between combats Cons: - repetitive combat (the usual) - not very long

Great voice acting, great art style, and a fine plot. But the puzzles and combat felt kinda boring to me.

Bloody hell, Sunday Gold is quite the cracker, isn’t it? 🎮 It drags you into its gritty world with a narrative that twists more than a politician's promises. The art style is smashing, and the soundtrack keeps you on tenterhooks. The characters are a right bunch of misfits, but you can’t help but get attached to the lot of them. Gameplay? Well, it's a cunning mix of strategy and skill. The combat system is like trying to drink tea without spilling a drop—tricky but satisfying. ☕ And the puzzles? Just enough to make you feel clever without needing a degree in rocket science. All in all, Sunday Gold is a proper gem. If you're after a game with some bite and a bit of wit, give it a go. It’s a bloody good time, I say! 🎯

This game was a lot better than I expected! The gameplay was nothing extraordinary. A typical point-and-click adventure with typical turn-based combat however the 'Composition' meter (more akin to a 'Sanity' meter) was a nice touch. Certain actions or attacks in combat would lower your composition to the point your character becomes a gibbering mess. It visually effects your UI inside and outside of combat and you're forced to complete your turns in combat in literal seconds or risk missing your turn, so you have to be quick on your feet! The games art-style really shines (Think Persona 5 mixed with Disco Elysium) and the voice acting which really sells the character chemistry is arguably the games biggest strength. Three nitpicks, firstly I HATE the hacking minigame. Oh my gosh do I LOATHE it. So much so that I dumped a bunch of skill points into 'Gavin' (The tech nerd of the group') just to circumvent ever having to attempt one of those awful puzzles and there are A LOT of them. Secondly, there should be an option to turn off battle-animations. As gorgeous as they are, any skill that you use beyond your basic attacks has an animation and it is tedious to have to watch them every time, especially for the longer fights that can go upwards of 30+ turns. Thirdly, the story was decent enough but without any spoilers, the final ending scene was soooo abrupt? Like they tried to cram a 10 minute conclusion about everything that happened in the game into 90 seconds which took a bit of shine off the experience as it just left a lot of unexplained questions you thought would be answered by the end! Overall I don't think there's enough in this game to escalate this to an all-time-great status but there was certainly enough there to warrant a 15 hour play through (And I'd happily play a sequel with this crew again!) Solid 7.5/10 for me!

Since the day I first played Dishonoured I always looked forward to seeing more of this oil painting styling in games and while devs at BKOM studios captured that impression successfully most times, they resorted to use primitive AI to animate characters' faces in certain occasions which resulted a lazily, badly done animation that drags players down into the depth of the uncanny valley. It all feels like a deliberate sabotage from that one techbro in the team and it's real unfortunate because the visual department nailed it in other parts. But enough about the looks, what about the gameplay department? Well, not ideal. They made a decision to tie both combat and out-of-combat gameplay by making most point and click actions cost action points forcing players to manage efficient use of their AP's or risk random encounters. This mechanic actively discourges players from exploring, getting straying from the set certain path and is a frustratingly bad design. Especially so because you don't get to have better weapons and enhancements to equip without consistently searching for them. A typical player may not realize this fact before facing the first boss which is the hardest in the whole game in my opinion, and at that point it may be too late for them. Fights come in the form of traditional JRPG turn based combat as you can see in the screenshots from the store page, which is a boring continuous loop of attack-heal-attack and it forces players to play defensively, skip a turn and charge characters' APs before ending the fight because of the reason specified above. Characters are very likeable, and arguably is equally interesting to the art direction part. They may be not the most fresh looking cast of chracters but their dialogues are well written, they get along with each other and most importantly, exceptionally well acted. Too bad they're wasted on a story that is so predictable and short. Game has your typical was that the end sort of abrupt ending so lower your expectations on the last chapter. You're bound to be disappointed. In general, for what it goes for on major sale(<$5) it is worth your time and money even if it's just to hear their banters. Is this game a hidden gem? It's more of a finely crafted fake acrylic gem that's pretty and cool looking enough to keep but has no actual value whatsoever. 6.5/10. Not a must play, but do pick up and try if you feel bored with your usual selections.
