This runs well on the steam deck and i recommend changing steam input to use d pad as joystick and set right trackpad to be a single button bound to dpad down. This roguelite feels like an improved and fleshed out rogue legacy. it isnt very enjoyable at first but as you get stronger it becomes more fun in an almost exponential way. good stuff.

Really fun game. Can be a bit challenging, especially in the beginning. The first hour of gameplay I was very very hesitant if I had made a good purchase or not, and I was admittedly struggling. I could see there was a lot of meat on the bones but couldn't access much of it. (There are about six different meta currencies- that really could and should be cut down a bit imo) After a few hours though the game really opens up and you have tons and tons of variation and customization to just about every aspect of your gameplay. LOTS of upgrade menus. Different weapons (Swords, Scythes, Guns, Magic) then tons of weapons within each category (i.e. "Venom Sword" "Executors Sword" "Master Sword" "Healing Scythe" "Quad-Barrel Revolver" etc etc) You can upgrade the rarity AND the levels of each weapon individually with the meta currencies. You can also add gems to your weapons. There are blessings and curses you receive through your runs.... there is a lot. I think the game could do with just *a bit* more hand-holding as I think it might be really intimidating and overwhelming and just confusing for people who don't live and breath games like Dead Cells. Hardcore fans of the genre will probably hate me for saying that, but more people playing these games means more money for them to grow and improve and keep coming out with new games, so a few more tooltips in-game is a pretty easy trade-off for that. Hopefully devs will continue to adjust and improve the game through it's lifespan. Anyway, if you are a fan of the genre, or you think the trailer looks cool- check it out! It is fun and worth the time and money imo.

Having played Aeterna Noctis almost a year ago now, it was comforting to see that it feels, looks and sounds very much like it. Rooms are very basic. There's only dash and jump this time and no complicated platforming. I completed a full run after 4 and a half hours of playing the game. This was happen-stance because of some OP directions you can go with the life-leeching sword with high attack speed, combined with the map modifier that keeps dishing out bonuses through cards like +10% attack speed. I actually found this weapon setup so powerful that I was initially put off from trying the other weapons in the game. Unlocking more of them made it less likely that I would get the things I wanted for my OP setup. After 12 hours or so, I was finally able to get the right armour pieces to provide life-leech, which opened me up to the other weapons in the game. There's PLENTY more to unlock and see, harder map settings to go into a run with. ..I'm not sure where I will stop, possibly soon, but it is quite addictive. It must be said that although gameplay feels good, I lost interest in the repetitive grind. Obtaining higher level seeds seems to be a slow process.

Fun game. Gets a bit too much enemy spam after you proceed. Sure you can customize your challenge but with any good attempt taking over an hour, you really dont have the resources. Enjoyed it all the way until my save got corrupted by altf4 from the end menu of a dungeon. Just dont do this and you'll have a reasonably good time. by the way i started over.
