Not perfect, there are parts where the fixed camera makes it annoying to avoid obstacles. It's a lot of holding forward, but doesn't really need to be much else given it's play-time and price. As someone who can't stomach most horror games, it was nice to be able to get through this without an anxiety attack, whilst still delivering decent scares.

subway midnight is a rad game, but there is some stuff new players might want 2 know. 1) you cant change ANY settings aside from fullscreen/window, and there are no manual saves (it autosaves after each room change--usually if the screen goes black, it's saved) 2) there are 3 endings. you have to play at least 3 times to get everything, but itll skip over completed sections on future plays. for your first run, its better to go in blind. after that, you should use a guide for the more tedious/confusing puzzles (i used this one: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2883277134) 3) there are only a handful of traditional jumpscares in this game, which is awesome for people who hate those. the horror is mainly from the atmosphere, and playing several times doesnt detract from it. imo the visuals and atmosphere are the strongest parts of this game 4) moving around in colin's game is almost as fun as having a coughing fit in the middle of an exam

a short horror game with very cute artwork—don't expect something with deep gameplay, but do expect a pretty fun 1-4 hour(s) of a pretty interesting story and fantastic artwork that makes really good use of lighting and shaders. the game takes full advantage of its room-based setup by using many of the rooms as an excuse to experiment with shaders and cool artistic decisions! i could talk more about the artwork but you can see it for yourself. you walk around rooms with WASD, interact with Spacebar, and that's about it. many rooms have puzzles inside of them, but most of the puzzles are more like basic problem solving or navigation puzzles. i only struggled with one, and it turned out i just missed something. notably, you have to do extra puzzles in each of the areas to get the good ending, and you can't go back to older segments. that made me mad until i realized that: A) the game requires you to replay it once to get the good ending anyway B) the game MERCIFULLY skips all of the areas you've done the extras for (and all the cutscenes you've seen already) on subsequent playthroughs so it wasn't really a problem at all. and because most of what you'd miss boils down to not looking around, most people would only need two total playthroughs. that being said, the base walk speed is a little slow, but i've cleared this game four times in four hours (less, since I paused a few times to do other stuff), so that should tell you about how long it actually is. a couple of the puzzles are guess-and-check, which is annoying, but ultimately those segments are really short. the story's kept rather light; there's no dialogue, so you have to infer it for yourself, but it's not especially mysterious or difficult to follow, at least for the most part. overall, i would recommend this game to people who are looking for a short but enjoyable experience where the focus is in the artwork and the concept rather than the gameplay. if you get easily frustrated by puzzles or a little bit of repetition, you might want to reconsider. if you don't remember the colors of the rainbow like some of the negative reviewers of this game then it's a hard pass
