Good collection, but you should be able to play all of the games online. Also, there is nobody online!

Street Fighter 2 is a totally iconic game that I played a lot as a kid on the Super Nintendo. It’s amazing to play it again here in this collection. Everything works great and it’s a solid collection in terms of performance and presentation. It’s very interesting to try out the other games in this series too. Especially the first Street Fighter game which is a bit surreal to play here. I remember when Street Fighter 2 was in the arcade I used to wonder, where is Street Fighter 1? We never saw anything about it when I was a kid. Now I can see that that game was a very generic and pretty boring game compared to Street Fighter 2. Street Fighter 2 was special, mainly because of the iconic characters that were introduced. With the special moves which are iconic too, like the fireball and spinning kicks. The music as well and the dialogues for each character are all fantastic. Zangief’s laugh and of course the ‘hadouken’, it’s really cool to go back and experience Street Fighter 2 again. The other games in the series are very interesting to take a look at here too. I had never played most of the games that came after Street Fighter 2 either. So overall this collection is totally great and a perfect way to replay Street Fighter 2. This is great example of game preservation for me, I love having this collection here on Steam.

Summary: The Street Fighter 30th Anniversary Collection is great for those interested in the single-player experience of these classic arcade titles, but those wanting competitive online multiplayer should look elsewhere. Full Review: This collection includes the following 12 games: [*]Street Fighter (1987) [*]Street Fighter II (1991) [*]Street Fighter II: Champion Edition (1992) [*]Street Fighter II: Hyper Fighting (1992) [*]Super Street Fighter II (1993) [*]Super Street Fighter II: Turbo (1994) [*]Street Fighter Alpha (1995) [*]Street Fighter Alpha 2 (1996) [*]Street Fighter Alpha 3 (1998) [*]Street Fighter III (1997) [*]Street Fighter III: 2nd Impact (1997) [*]Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike (1999) Street Fighter II: Hyper Fighting, Super Street Fighter II: Turbo, Street Fighter Alpha 3, and Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike have training modes and online multiplayer. Multiplayer modes include casual, ranked, and an online arcade mode which lets you play single-player while being in a multiplayer queue (taking you back to where you were after your match ends). Note that these are ROMs from the original arcade versions. Meaning the difficulty is relatively high by default, and Super Street Fighter II: Turbo has the bug where it's always at the max difficulty even if you change the setting. Several negative reviews complained about 3rd party DRM. Supposedly it was added post-release, but I couldn't verify that. When I bought the game, it was clearly indicated on the store page: "Incorporates 3rd-party DRM: The Enigma Protector". Anyway, it's not "always-online" DRM, contrary to what one review claimed. I disconnected my internet and played for an hour to test it. Yeah, I don't like 3rd party DRM either, but I wouldn't consider this to be a particularly obtrusive implementation. Online play does use rollback networking, it's not GGPO, but you can adjust input latency via the in-game menu. It can be very laggy, but I think the problem is that there aren't enough players left, so when you do find a match, chances are it's not someone close to you. It's down to around 100 for the 24-hour concurrent player peak. I got this for nostalgia and to play single-player. If you're interested in playing competitive online multiplayer then use Fightcade instead. The game ran perfectly on Linux with Proton-GE. Recommended for purchase on sale. The lowest recorded sale price is $9.89 at 67% off.

It's a great Street Fighter collection, with near fully customizable controls, a great training mode, and good overall performance. Single player mode is the arcade version of every game, which is good, but that also means you can't adjust the computer's difficulty or game speed, but I imagine most players are going online to play and won't care too much about that. As of this, I haven't gone online yet. Edit 04/14/24: I went online in SFII Turbo Hyper Fighting, and the game felt good even though I haven't played it for 30 years and I basically stink. Unfortunately I had a hard time finding any matches at all, and was only able to play against the same player 2 times in 1/2 hour, who exclusively played M. Bison. The online experience is pretty much poop so far. Edit 07/01/24: So I've played a bit more online in Arcade Mode which lets people jump in and challenge you rather than finding a match, something that takes nearly forever leaving you twiddling your thumbs while you wait, whereas in this mode you play the computer in the meantime. The opponents have been fairly decent to play against, except for the occasional cheeseballs and ridiculously laggy matches. I also have a feeling some people are using macros and turbo button presses, which isn't a lot of fun to play against. I'm still getting back to competency with the controls though, and I sometimes feel the game isn't responding to the occasional button press or 2. It's a fun distraction from time to time.

Bought it just to sit in Street Fighter 2 and play little bit. SF2 is only I ve ever played and it put a great positive mark and nice memory of childhood! Only thing I will regret is that there is no that "story" option, but still its fun and playful, game from 1991 in 2024 :D GREAT And thanks to anyone who made it possible on PC!
