The game started out as a decent RTS that I was obligated to buy as a fan of the movie... not movieS, MOVIE :) But the strategy is deep, you can TURTLE and defend, my preferred method or run and gun! Both of which can be costly if you have no clue. But the point is, you can make BOTH work with decent strategical choices, which is so rare for this type of game. Its not a steep learning curve, and the unit choices are not set in stone if you want to win... you can chose the units that appeal to you, and can make them work with decent strategy... which is SO much fun to figure out... its not a strict "rock-paper-scissors" scenario, and you are not PUNISHED for turtling up while you see what your units can do. You can set up a firing-line and mow down HUNDREDS of bugs while you sort out what to do next if you are smart... SOOOOO satisfying when you get it right... Iv'e been with these guys since the beginning, and they've never stopped updating.. this is a true labor of love... not just UNIT updates, but campaigns, play mechanics and even game modes! They've pulled me away from Total War... which I would never have though possible... :) FAAAzzziOOO!!!! Like magic... But seriously... if you are a fan of the RTS genre, its fun as H*LL! But... if you are a Starship Troopers fan, there is nothing CLOSE to this and you will replay over and over and over because you are HOME. And they don't charge a PENNY for all these updates! I almost forgot to give them my LOVE for that! THAT'S how spoiled they have made me... I would have easily spent the hundreds of dollars I've spent on other games to get the content they have slaved over to release for free... I will buy any other game they release JUST because of the player love they shown for this game. Good onya devs. Just finished the 10th? 20th? ... I don't even KNOW the number of playthroughs anymore... difficulties, methods, challenges.... and then started the Territory mode ... its like an entirely NEW GAME!! For NO DLC cost... WHO TF are you guys? You've released HUNDREDS of dollars of content for no additional cost since the start... Labor of love.. and it shows... I need to stop, there comes a point where it looks fan-boi... guilty! loL!

Very good game! The gameplay is very fun, and the story is amazing. The voice acting is a tossup, Sam from the campaign is... ok... he has a weird nasally voice that doesn't really fit his character, but the actor did his best. Everyone else did pretty alright, and the FEDNET GUY? He is PEAK, his voice is better than the announcers from the movie (I've only watched the first one, most would consider the best anyways). Absolutely exemplary performance. The strategy of micromanaging your guys is cool, but it becomes VERY hard to do it effectively when you need to clear out big hives on the larger "slowly clear out hives" mission type, but it's ok. The combat system and tactics aren't very well suited to large RTS sized maps, it's better suited to defense and cramped spaces, not large open maps with the ability to have a dozen squads at once. If you are really into zipping around the map at sonic speeds and micromanaging your guys, you'll probably love those missions, but I personally don't like them. They're not horrible so if you think the rest sounds good, it's worth it to push through those. Otherwise, yeah it's really fun, I love this game. Marines are fun to spam, I love sending crayon munchers to their deaths. Bought the DLCs like, the day after I bought the game because I knew I'd love em. Haven't finished the full campaign yet at the time of writing, but yeah I know I'm gonna love em (like 2 missions away). So yeah if you don't really like other RTS games, but you loved to play Halo Wars (both of them) back in the day, this game will sit right with you. So, I have to ask you: Are you doing YOUR part??? GET IN THERE SOLDIER! Update: If you use the default controlscheme for moving your camera optimally (left hand on <^> and right ctrl for combat move) you WILL get carpel tunnel. my left elbow is in pain. Rebind the move camera keys to WASD and save yourself the trouble.

Definitely a fun RTS, but it needs more...sound effects? It needs sound effects for soldiers marching, marauder mechs walking, fighter jets and bombers flying overhead, etc.

This game is great trooper! I played the campaign non-stop until a beat it all. I hear there are still more DLCs on the way. You apes wanna live forever! Join the fight and do your part. The only good bug is a dead bug. But for real the game is full of bugs and it is great. On the bounce trooper. Make Johnny Rico proud!

Bottom Line Up Front (Overall 8 /10) - A simple, yet fun game worthy of investment. Probably the best game representation of the Starship Troopers universe yet - Plays more of a Real Time Tactics than a Real Time Strategy game - Excellent artistic style and game environment really shines - Easy at first then the missions get challenging past Mission 5 - Very basic base building mechanics - Lacking features of most modern RTT / RTS games such as a 360 degree camera, skirmish mode and multiplayer Developers, if this game had multiplayer, skirmish, 360 degree camera and the ability to play bugs this game would be a masterpiece. Gameplay Loop (6/10) - Only giving this score based on the fact that there are 2 DLCs at the moment and there is a lack of skirmish and multiplayer - Few mission varieties but it suits the game universe - Campaign is nice and lengthy especially with the DLCs - Achievements are not difficult to obtain but definitely a good challenge in some missions. Might need a few replays to succeed Gameplay Mechanics (7/10) - Very few controls to learn the game - Some units will not conduct their special ability on first click (most prominent one is engineers using the demo ability) - Needs some unit micromanagement (sight lines and unit special abilities) to be efficient in a mission but it is not tedious Presentation (8/10) - Excellent artistic style and eye candy - Some of the unit explanations can benefit with a rotatable unit model when you view their stats - Captures the vibe of the Federation very well - Little to no glitches, gameplay or graphical bugs Sound (6/10) - Some gunfire sounds could be a bit more punchy - Some arachnid sounds could also use a bit more volume to convey presence - Voice acting is bearable and relevant How this can be a 10/10 game / Developer wishlist - Introduce the arachnids as a playable faction - Introduce Multiplayer - Introduce Skirmish - Introduce a 360 degree camera Specs Intel I5 13500K RTX4070Ti 80 GB DDR4 RAM SSD Samsung 4K TV 60 FPS Game is on the highest graphical settings with VSYNC ON - consistent 60 FPS no issues
