I'm not sure how exactly I came across this game but I'm glad I did. I wouldn't have believed you if you told me I'd end up putting so much time into a twin stick roguelite because I thought in general I had little interest in that style of game, but Star of Providence does so much to make it stand apart from the massive crowd of similar games. I think the most important thing the game nails is just how tight the controls are, it feels twitchy and precise in a way that is more like a Cave Shmup than it is something like Geometry Wars or other Xbox 360 era Twin Stick games. The presentation as well creates a very intriguing premise and mystery in the back of your mind during every run attempt to get to the bottom of the dungeon. Some of these musical stages themes are as good as something you'd see in something like Undertale. Cave Story, or ZeroRanger, which really surprised me. There's a really good mix of challenge, tweakable attributes, and RNG to each run that makes this a very compelling and fast roguelite experience. Look past the initial generic look to the store page and give it a shot, I think you'll quickly come away impressed.

Formerly known as the infinitely cooler "Monolith" (thanks stupid copyright laws), "Star of Providence" is phenomenal bullet hell roguelite with gorgeous pixel art and fantastic music. Quite challenging but in the good, well-designed way and not in "the binding of isaac" way. Highly recommend

This is a top tier videogame. It is extremely imaginative, creative and entertaining. This game makes me feel like playing cave story for the first time. It's hipnotizing, rhythmic, beautiful. This game reminds me of the absolute joy that videogames are capable of.

As an avid indie game and bullet hell fan, I don't say this lightly: Star of providence is one of the best games I've ever played. There's some unique stuff I really like - weaving between bullets is crazy satisfying, because your hitbox is a tiny little dot in the center of your ship. The true final bosses pull zero punches and acknowledge the fact that you've just saved up all your resources to beat them; they are VERY difficult. All items in the game have a use, even when you're full on ammo and health. The powerups on the different floors (conduits) are well balanced and fun to use. Weapons in this game all feel completely unique, with tons of different "keywords" that totally change their function, as well as rare artifact weapons. Also the bosses are SUPER fucking cool The thing that really hooked me, though, is the extremely cryptic lore. I pushed through absurdly difficult challenges because I wanted to know more about it. I just completed my first S rank run as of writing this - and I can say that everything was tied together at the very end. Seriously, play this game, it's so worth it

Cozy and challenging. Plays smooth and isn't too hard, but definitely tough enough for me at least.
