Sparklite Is a fairly easy roguelite with cute pixel graphics. The combat is nice in that the enemies usually telegraph their attacks and it isn't too hard to satisfyingly dodge their attacks while getting a near optimal amount of damage in. The melee weapons are well flushed out and some of the ranged weapons are cool, although the later two weapons feel a bit more gimmicky. This is a combination of neither weapon feels stronger than the crossbow and the only times I would use them was for solving puzzles in the areas I found them in. One aspect that could be improved is movement, there isn't really anyway to move faster as the game progresses and you always stop for a brief moment after dashing that feels off, its nothing too major and you can definitely get used to it but the movement definitely could be smoother. Moving on, each region has unique enemies and while the rooms can feel a bit repetitive at times its not a big issue since you can always skip fighting them and move onto the next room should you wish. The bigger issue lies with a certain element of randomness. Randomness is an important element to many games and I think this especially applies to rogue likes. However, randomness should be done in such a way that it doesn't feel tedious or that you can't move forward if you're just screwed over by chance. In Sparklite, there are various different big chests that you are looking for that provide patches that are incredibly helpful for progressing in the game. From what I can tell each region will have rooms randomly loaded in and if its a new rooms with a new chest/challenge, great you can acquire a new patch and use it in later runs to get further ahead, but if the region keeps only having the rooms that you've already looted and you can't get more patches this way simply due to chance. Something that could be so helpful with this is making it that once a room has had its big chest looted, it won't appear anymore and other rooms with chests that have yet to be looted will appear. Another thing that would be great would be something that indicates how many patches a region has & how many you've found so this way I won't continue wasting my time exploring a region because I want to find all the patches (I'm a slight completionist). Finally, the patch system and the story. Honestly, I like the patch system a lot. Its straightforward and you are given a liberty to adjust the patches you're currently using to make your next run more convenient. The way that you have to somewhat manage your patches as well as how you want to spend your money is done is a pretty seamless way that lets you figure out where your priorities lie. At a certain point, its kinda broken cause once you have like 2 golden shield patches u feel nigh invincible but again this isn't a very difficult game. The story is straightforward and but enough fun detail to keep it engaging, and the npcs aren't anything to write home about but are still fun. Overall, Sparklite is a fairly short roguelite that you can probably complete within a full free day of playing. Its a good game but nothing incredible so that combined with the around 10 hr playtime to get all the achievement for me makes 25$ feel a little expensive. I would recommend buying it on sale but whatever works best for you.

Listen the gameplay is fun. The art is amazing, the music is good. The game is good overall. However, this game can be time-wasting at times. The randomly generated map is not really fun or uesfull, every time you die you start from the starting point? what type of logic is this ? I recommend this game on a sale !

Great action-adventure game with progressive difficulty and challenging enemies. It has a nice story embedded to its rougelite aspect. The pixel art is aesthetically pleasing. Despite the game recommending a controller, thank you cause it can be played with mouse and keyboard. I do have some criticisms. 1. I don't know some controls at the beginning so I had trouble what to do. A brief tutorial could help than randomly pressing keys. 2. Are the gadgets intended to be also used as weapons? If they are, they're kind of weak despite using an upgrade patch. 3. The Spark Blitzer and Pulser are just copies of the slinger. They don't vary in functionality. Their purpose is to shoot and activate a switch. 4. Aside from getting free widgets, perhaps allow the player to buy widgets before adventuring so Hawkins does actually have a business. This way, there's still sense in collecting sparklites. 5. Some dialogue update (and rewards?) after maximum upgrade of the shops. 6. Map fusing (just an idea) 7. Teddy did nothing to progress the story after saving him. Overall, I still enjoyed the game.
