I purchased this game off vibes alone. And yowzaaa, the vibes did not lead me astray. This game is a certified banger, dredging up every ounce of my 2000s nostalgia and injecting it with modern flair. PROS - strong character driven story telling that provides the player with choices that feel consequential. BADASS boss music. Flashy character art-styles that pop from darker, industrial backdrops. Certified terrifying GamerTM moments due to a combination of third-person fixed-camera view, first-person arcade-style combat, and third eye mechanics that change your surroundings. The puzzles are also solid for this reason. CONS (but not really) - At first, I found the back-and-forth between fixed-camera and stationary first-person combat janky. Five hours in, my opinion hasn't changed. The difference is I wouldn't change anything about the mechanics now. I've enjoyed learning to master it. How much tension it creates when I'm swarmed by three or more enemies at once. Some serious 'oh, s***' moments. OVERALL - The story and characters are the main attraction here IMO, with strong themes exploring love, toxic relationships, and more. Both on the macro and micro level. Between every delve back into abandoned facilities infested with demons, I found myself retracing my steps in the main HUB just to make sure I didn't miss any interactions. I've also save scummed more than I care to admit. All in an attempt to get Michelle the ending she deserves. For games like this, that's how I know I'm hooked. Lastly, you might have noticed I didn't mention anything about this game being unabashedly LGBTQ+. While this game is most def for the gays, it's also for my straight-white-male-cisgender ass. Sorry We're Closed is for the gamers.

Silent Hill meets Killer 7 through a super gay bubblegum pop lens with PS1-era graphics and insane boss music. Divine.

A survival horror that plays like Silent Hill or Signalis, but - in addition the default third person perspective - comes with a first-person mode built in and complemented nicely with a weak point system. Game play consists of completing main story objectives and side quests in the hub(s), while going out each day exploring bizarre demon-twisted madhouses and dreamscapes. During my time, balancing ammo, health pickups, and exploration was usually pretty easy. When it wasn't, dying wasn't too bad a setback - usually loading from the beginning of a room. The game uses a save point system along, with an auto save and checkpoint system when you die. The story of Sorry We're Closed was pretty different, focusing on how love, friendship, and breakups change who we are not just metaphorically, but physically. It asks "What if Lucifer fell from heaven because of a bad breakup with God?" and then builds a world around the fallout. A tragic twist to the exile of the fallen angels that asks us what we're willing to do for love. Blasphemers of Christian mythology rejoice. The visuals, music, and atmosphere were top-notch. It looks like a season of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure and Silent Hill on the original Playstation, had a - disturbed - non-binary, gay lovechild. Wonderfully aesthetic. I encountered exactly one bug where I fell through the floor while getting belly flopped by a demon, resulting in my death and reloading from the beginning of the room. No big deal. Sorry We're Closed is an unapologetic, flamboyant survival horror with multiple endings, plenty of hidden secrets to find, and decent replay value. I would recommend it to any survival horror fan. Looking forward to seeing more from à la mode games.

About halfway through so far but I'm really enjoying this game! It feels like SMT + Silent Hill + Killer7. It's specific in a really good way and incredibly stylish. I'm also grateful for the accessibility options. The permanent healing item is just enough hand-holding to make the Silent Hill-esque jank less frustrating, from someone who's never been a huge survival horror fan. It still feels like an indie game made by two people, but in the best possible way. Sorry We're Closed feels authentic, and is a game that resonates with me because of that authenticity. Kudos to the devs, I hope to see more from them in the future.

Unrealistic. Michelle didn't fold in half immediately upon seeing the Duchess. I love this game. I love how it looks. I love the story. The combat isn't perfect, but found it way easier with mouse and keyboard. I'm absolutely hooked! You can tell lots of love went into this game.
