Sonic Lost World is truly one of the Sonic games of all time. The best part of the game is when Sonic said "It's sonic time," and then sonic'd all over the generic villain group.

I'd give it a 7/10 or 8/10 50% of the game is great (2d sections), 50% of the game is decent (3d sections) To put it simply, Lost World is a game that is quite unwelcoming to new players but gets pretty good if you have skills. The level design is quite bad for unskilled players but can become fun once you've mastered some things. Despite this, there are still a few levels that are outright bad and some small features & controls that make the game feel weird. The 2d sections pale in comparison to their Genesis counterparts, however they're not supposed to be played exactly like the Genesis levels which many players don't understand. They offer a much more smooth experience compared to modern 2d Sonic levels, as the parkour and spin dash mechanics add another layer of complexity and swiftness compared to just jump-boost-stomp-jump-boost-stomp. The 3d sections also pale in comparison to their modern 3d boost counterparts in terms of speed, although this comes with the benefit of more precise platforming and handling/turning. Additionally, the parkour mechanics become much more complex compared to the 2d sections, as the player now needs to deal with 3 axis. The biggest problem I have with the 3d parts is the unnecessary spring/cannon transitions (sometimes takes too long), and the fact that the hidden speed zones aren't really fun and take up space in the level when they could have used that space for something else. However I think the biggest issue most players have with this game is that it doesn't really teach them well on how to use the mechanics, so they end up frustrated and blame something like level design or momentum. For example, Sonic can actually move pretty quick in this game thanks to the infinite spin dash, but many people (including Dunkey lol) didn't even know that this was a feature, so they hate the game not realizing they're playing it incorrectly. In reality, I don't think Genesis like momentum matters in this game because it's supposed to play more like a Mario game than a Sonic game, ironically enough.

Not a good game, but not the worst sonic game out there. They tried something different during the wii u era and it was ok at best. 100% percent wise its alright, the red rings only get you super sonic and its very underwhelming i only used it like twice, and the achievements are a grind but most of it can get done whilst playing the actual main story so they're ok, its a bit grindy towards the end but overall nothing crazy. I'd recomend playing it if you're a sonic fan otherwise maybe just play sonic x shadow or frontiers if youre looking to get into the franchise

One of the most conflicting games in the series, but I'd say it's worth a play. Sonic Lost World isn't one of the best games in the series, but it's far from the worst. Due to this game being developed originally as part of a partnership with Nintendo for the Wii U, it has some touches that feel very Nintendo. I'd say this game feels like you playing as Sonic trapped somewhere between Super Mario Galaxy & Yoshi's Island. It tries a little to hard to be those games which causes the majority of the levels to feel drawn out or unnecessary, but the handful of levels that slap are really quite fun. A bit more could have been done to make this feel like a proper PC-port, but like with most Sonic games, fan made mods do a great job of fixing a lot of the issues with this game that aren't level design related. A mod even exists to add the Wii U exclusive DLC featuring Legend of Zelda & Yoshi's Island back into the game. Overall, I'd say this one is worth picking up if it's on sale. I'm not sure about $30, but $20 or less would be a pretty fair price for a game with this amount of content.

People won't wanna admit it, but Lost World is honestly a really good game. Also one of the best soundtracks in the series.
