Beat the game and went for the 100%. I would say this is the perfect cozy game. The puzzles are the right amount of difficulty for a relaxing game. Maps are easy to understand and still feel big enough to encourage exploration. The world is absolutely adorable. Narrative is simple and doesn't try to do too much. Characters are charming. I love this game and hope they come out with a second!!!

I had this game for a long time in my library and recently got around to it and regret not playing it sooner. The game is a relaxing and cutesy puzzle-platformer with an adorable aesthetic and a great cast of characters. The mood and music is very mellow and the addition of the mycology encyclopedia is a great idea for learning about mushrooms. I would 100% recommend this game for anyone interested in a relaxing and laid back game with great music, a compelling cast of characters, great writing, and is especially playing with a significant other or younger sibling. 10/10

You know that feeling of perpetual anxiety, the looming threat of dread, the stifling cloud that darkens your thoughts? Yeah that's what I was experiencing early on when I realised I love this game and didn't ever want the adventure to end. Constantly thinking if the next section would be the last, but you know what...? A message from a friendly onion behind a special door reminded me that the journey itself is all the more rewarding when you do reach the end so that you may look back fondly, unwind, and look forward to the next adventure life throws at you. 10/10 Definitely recommend. If you've played and enjoyed "A Short Hike" and/or "Lil Gator Game" then this will definitely be for you. P.S: Don't go into caves without a headlamp please.

Smushi Come Home is a delightful and charming game about the adventures of a cute little mushroom. It is suitable for children as there is no violence and the game gives a few good moral lessons about the benefits of being kind and loving to all creatures. Smushi, our hero, was snatched from his island home by an eagle who dumps him into a thick forest. After having a panic attack upon realising he was lost, Smushi bravely decides to find his way back home. He will meet quirky and funny characters who will test his patience and goodwill. Along the way Smushi will be able to fly using a leaf which was very cute and meeting wind essences will improve and lengthen his flight. He will also pick up stronger hooks which help him climb walls and in later sections he will be able to swim underwater. Smushi is such a versatile mushroom!! In order to get coloured augmenters and new skins (hats), he will have to fulfil silly quests for others. Most are simple like shooting down strawberries or collecting seasoning (seagrass). But other quests are more lengthy and impactful like teaching a leader the difference between being tough and being brave; reconciling argumentative siblings by making them listen to one another and reuniting a drama queen with her partner. You even befriend a capybara who is happy to transport you around the river. Smushi sighs a lot dealing with difficult people and I would imagine...a bit of eye rolling too and saying 'give me strength' under his breath! After this game, Smushi should set up his own counselling service! Seriously though, the moral lessons that Smushi teaches are relatable to all of us and highlights the importance of getting along with one another. This broken old world of ours always needs more love and generosity in it. The game is platform heavy, but it is pretty easy with some puzzling aspects to it. There is a lot of exploration because you have to find green and purple crystals in your location to pay for things that you need. There is a map for the 3 different areas you explore which you will need as it shows where the caves are which you have to go into. After I finished the game a few other areas unlocked, so if you miss anything, you're able to able to fast travel to that location. You also have to find all the different types of mushrooms which you have a journal for. For those who enjoy a bit more of a challenge, you are now able to speedrun the entire game. There are also some challenges that characters put to you, like collecting 20 drops of nectar in 45 seconds; completing a glider course and a diving challenge. I couldn't complete them because I wasn't dexterous enough...and there are achievements attached to them. I did complete the obstacle course though! Graphics are very simple which fits perfectly with the gentle and calm ambience of the game. Music was cozy and was not intrusive. The only downside I came across was sometimes the camera got in the way and I couldn't see what I was doing, but it didn't become a major issue. I highly recommend this delightful, whimsical and cute game for all ages. And the good news is that the devs have just announced they will be releasing another whole new level free of charge soon! I can't wait! 9/10
