Fun casual game, it took me 3 hours to get all 3 endings and find all the graffiti tags. Basically in this game you run around this comical cartoon weird little slimy industrial area / mini city and find places to spray paint graffiti tags. That is it, there is no real main story to the game other than that. The fun comes in all the weird characters you meet and interesting things you see along the way. I highly suggest turning off some of the graphic options that make the game wavy, fuzzy etc, some of the aesthetics can be a bit too nauseating with these options on. Overall 7 / 10

Really enjoyed this short adventure game. Basically, it is 3D platform puzzle gameplay, where you have got to reach designated locations. The level design is excellent, and there are charming characters with witty dialogue to keep you exploring. The anti-establishment jokes had me chuckling throughout the five-hour tour of this industrial-destroyed island. Urinated off the tallest building on an Ubuntu Linux desktop using a keyboard and mouse control. The gamepad also worked well enough. The game uses the Unity Game Engine. It has an excellent soundtrack that fits into the narrative, as the player passes by radios. There is some replayability, also, with multiple endings and multiple, optional layers of NPC interactions. I had a lot more fun with this game than many other more expensive adventure games, and it had some sophisticated gameplay that felt well-edited for maximum fun. Despite being tounge-in-cheek satire, this is not a half-assed effort. Highly recommended.

Randomly stumbled across this on sale and checked out the screen-shots/trailer. Glad i took the risk and purchased this game, you essentially get chucked into a grimy run down world with virtually no hand holding whatsoever. Parkour, Graffiti, Weird folks and mini games... Absolutely wild time and fun aswell, looking forward to playing the follow-up now!

I initially played through the entirety of Sludge Life on Nintendo Switch, but I decided to play through the game again on Steam, now that I own a Steam Deck. I already loved Sludge Life, but after revisiting it, I can comfortably say it is my favorite game published by Devolver Digital (not counting Sludge Life 2, I haven't beaten it yet, but I will likely find it to be an improvement), and among my favorite indie games of all time. Sludge Life boasts a unique gameplay premise with tight controls that revolves around tagging as many walls with your graffiti as possible by using first-person parkour mechanics. The more walls you tag with your artwork, the more rep you gain, which allows you to collaborate with some of the local taggers and create impressive artwork together. The world isn't too big, but it's compact, with a lot to explore and details to uncover. Sludge Life is all about the little details— between the cigarette butts and drawings littered on the floor of the playable character's home, to hidden switches in the offices of CEOs, there's a lot to appreciate. Sludge Life is also endlessly entertaining with its wonderfully useless gameplay mechanics, such as a dedicated fart button, urinating when standing near open toilets, and being able to smoke the cigarettes that you find around the area. Sludge Life's soundtrack, although of very good quality, feels somewhat same-y, with a lot of songs sounding kind of similar to each other. Regardless, the music of Sludge Life is very enjoyable. The visual design and audio design are Sludge Life's crown jewels. The visual presentation is unique and mesmerizing, coupled with impressive and colorful punk artwork shown in the game's graffiti, which has served as a big inspiration to my own artwork. Similarly, the sound is a feat of its own. Every little sound is accounted for. I recommend playing Sludge Life with a good pair of headphones for a better impression of this. Sludge Life is a loving and hilarious tribute to graffiti and hip-hop culture that is well worth your time and money, especially if you are looking for something unique and artsy to dive into. It's a short burst of pure genius that I can confidently STRONGLY recommend to anyone who takes video games seriously as an artform.
