The story of this game is really interesting - a world that has been cursed that if they commit any of the seven deadly sins they turn into demons. The first act is very much building up the team, establishing the areas of the world, and levelling up. The second act is very heavy on character backstory and flashbacks, but with far more lore building. There is more content than I expected in this game, taking me about 9 hours to finish. One thing I like is after certain points in the main quests 'skits' would be available to watch which add more detail to the conversations the party has as they move along. A bit of the dialogue is a little cringe (why is the cat trying to hit on every woman) but for the most part is well written. The story builds well, slowly introducing demons of each of the deadly sins before the climax with the final act. Some of the flashback sequences are rather long but interesting. The combat is pokemon-style except everyone can attack at the same time. Party members gain abilities for which they need special points for, and have different attack speeds. For the most part however, i just spammed the basic attacks and it worked out. At one point the game did turn into a pork bun making simulator as I kept making them until Kenshi's attacks were in the 600s but it did make the combat part of the game rather pointless as he'd just one-shot every enemy. Overall it is a really sweet RPG which left me feeling happy on story completion.

An RPG set in a fantasy world full of demons who appeared after a curse. A wandering demon hunter and his talking catpanion are on the case. Feel like monster hunting? The adventure begins with the rescue of a cart randomly attacked by random demons, rewarded with a healthy meal and friends in the local town. This is the intro to a medium-length story focused mainly on solving the mystery of the curse plaguing the land with demons and why Shinto, the cat, can talk. For a low-priced indie RPG, the plot is somewhat decent. It is split into three chapters, with a single ending teased in the intro. There are some more, or less, predicatable plot twists and optional slice-of-life skits sprinkled between the main scenes. Nothing groundbreaking here, but I enjoyed it more than I expected. The main characters, Kenshi and Shinto, and the main antagonist, Isharul, are fairly well developed over time, but the rest of the cast is not so much. The flashbacks presented here serve as useful narrative tools. Considering that there are only four characters on your team, more could be done in this department. Other than the main story, multiple silly sidequests are also available. While I enjoy doing disconnected tasks, none of them really added anything to the main narrative or character personalities. Missed opportunity. The world-building is fine. You'll learn a little bit about most places you visit. However, you won't see many locations, and the maps feel rather bland and compressed. The occasional puzzles pose little challenge and lack creativity, but I've seen worse. While the main focus of this title is on the storytelling, there is some fighting as well. This is, perhaps, the weakest element of this game. Characters level up slowly; levels offer miniscule stat increases; there is a very limited pool of skills that are devoid of upgrades, etc. The slow leveling comes from the low exp from battles and the high HP of later enemies. Fortunately, there are no random encounters. The only meaningful way to upgrade character stats is through food items. Here, I want to mention the cooking system. You can cook various dishes using recipes found/bought during your travels. Certain dishes increase the character stats, but this requires grinding to earn enough money to buy ingredients. There is also an option to purchase some of the dishes, but it is way more costly. The character art is of the generic variety. Simple anime-style portraits can be found in the menu, and that's about it. No CGs or animations. Low-budget game after all. Music, similarly to art, is also of the generic RPG Maker type. I've heard most of the tracks in other titles already, so there's really nothing to write about. Apt enough track choices serve as background elements. No bugs encountered. Overall, a fairly decent story-focused RPG. Unfortunately, the fighting and exploring elements lack creativity and feel like an afterthought. Stil, for a budget title, it is decent enough to earn my approval: 6.4/10
