There's a reason this game is at or near the top of the charts for Submarine games - even after 20 years. In short, it's damn near perfect. But I'll be honest - if you like instant gratification, guns-a-blazing action then look elsewhere. This game relies on planning and stealth. You may spend hours stalking your prey for that perfect kill. And much like the real-life events it portrays, you will slowly turn from the "hunter" into the "hunted" as the allies slowly figure things out and improve their weapons and tactics. Enjoy the 1st and 2nd "Happy Times" while they last. Like a real U-boat commander, there's a 70-80% chance that you won't survive the war. A remarkable game that has stood the test of time.

Best sub simulator after mods are installed. ARB UI mod to bring widescreen gfx and nice menus. checkout subsim.com for more, endless modification.

At times you need some patience but then you are rewarded with some very interesting fun. It is challenging to work out your tactics and the relevant things to get your sub into an ideal firing position. Forget about what nationalities they were and focus on all the challenges . Completing each mission successfully is very, very satisfying indeed.
