A bl**dy great game that I have played for years, both on and offline (you can run this game from its executable without opening Steam). Once I have learned the main loop of the game, it became a breeze to find signals and enjoy the atmosphere of the setting. To me, personally, this game has the same zen vibe as the trucking games (ETS2 and ATS) and the Farming Simulators. There are still some things I haven't discovered yet that exist in this game. For example, I remember reading on the forums that there is a giant alien mothership/UFO hidden underground that can only be discovered with the Mars rover - I've yet to get to that stage as I am mostly upgrading the antennae and other equipment around the base for now. I can't thank the original developer of this game enough for making it! Even though I've played this game for a bunch of years I am still very much enjoying it and look forward to finding things I haven't yet...

Great game once you figure out how it works, athmosphere is good and it feels very eerie. Nothing does happen usually, its just creepy to get the signals. If you're wanting to get a game like signal simulator, that is still being updated and has more content and story, I really recommend looking into Voices of the Void, its free on top of all.

Super interesting and unique game, all about learning how to operate and maintain complicated machinery. I really enjoyed my time with Signal Simulator, and I think it's well worth the cost as it stands. The downside of such an awesome game is, abandoned or not, this feels very unfinished. There's a noticeable lack of interesting and unique content, and some odd design choices. For example, the interesting signals have a flat 10% chance to appear in place of random signals, and 'event' signals only appear at specific times during specific days of the month (and only during specific times in-game). It feels very obtuse, like it needed another pass to get it feeling natural. This sucks because the event signals are the real highlights of the game, but the only way you'll likely see them is by looking them up ahead of time and changing your device's time to see them. And that immersion break is the fatal flaw of Signal Simulator. Votv gets compared a lot as a cheaper, superior alternative. I don't think that's a fair comparison because Votv is a love letter to the Source engine pretending to be a SETI game (and it works really well). Conversely, Signal Simulator has a very straightforward approach with its engine and mechanics to focus solely on the SETI aspects. So, TLDR basically play Signal Simulator to learn what Azimuth is and play Votv to learn what a sleep paralysis demon is.

While votv is easier to understand , i feel that this game still has a lot of reason to play it , as its got a totally different style , events and story. People who give the game a thumbs down to just say 'play votv instead' are both undermining the talent of these devs , and judging this game based off of a different interpretation of its gameplay.

Ignore the recent reviews saying the game is "abandoned." I think these reviews come from people who haven't experienced 'complete' games and only know the live service model. The dev for Signal Simulator made their game, got it to a point they were happy with, and left it as is to go do other things. Signal Simulator is a complete game, not an abandoned one. Plenty of other reviews do a better job of explaining what is good about this game, but I felt the need to offset the recent negative and unfair reviews. Signal Simulator is an enjoyable experience and worth the money. It's also enjoyable to see where VotV got a lot of inspiration from.
