This is one of those games that's super cheap to start with (99 cents) and was seemingly always on sale for 90% off back when a game's final price after discounts could actually go below 49 cents, largely because this game also was among the first to really try and cash in on the gold rush of Steam Trading Cards when that part of the storefront really picked up, pardon the pun, steam (the achievement unlock % is a dead giveaway). So a lot of people bought this game and never played it, they just wanted the cards which is kind of a shame because this is actually a REALLY GOOD game. It's literally "what if 'The Legend of Zelda' except GUN???" It plays very similarly to the NES original and the dungeons/gameplay are modeled almost the same way; you start out on the beach, head into the nearby cave to get your shotty, and then you're free to explore the world and tackle the dungeons. You can really tell this game was put together by someone who truly enjoyed and understood the original Zelda game because -- as someone else who was also alive when that game was brand new -- I found myself getting into the dungeons and secrets just the same as I did almost 40 years ago. It almost seems like an insult to take such an important classic game and swap out the sword-wielding hero with a hillbilly and his varmint blaster but somehow it works and the end result is something silly that still manages to be a competent retro-style adventure game that is loads of fun to play. If you're familiar with classic Zelda, you will settle into Shotgun Legend practically right away. The achievements are not really hard, don't let the low % unlock rate fool you, that's simply because people would buy this game for 10 cents and leave it on just to get the Steam cards to flip on the marketplace and as a result no one would unlock any achievements so the rates are heavily skewed.
The Legend of Shotgunda Spiritual successor to Broken Armor, a lost soul can enjoy more dungeons, more land to explore, more weapons, more music and more hardcore difficulty. Well, a great sequel, way lnoger and adventuresquer than the dev's first game. Special mention to the banjo. The Gamortician says Yes.
