This game is pretty fun, and it deserves a recommendation, BUT; it's very flawed in areas. 1. The levels never change look, they are always a tall standing tower made of stone and wood and they get really boring after a while. 2. The level design feels wrong in a lot of places, the fact every level is a tower is really not fun when you go flying off into the void ( which is present in every level ) and then just get brought back up. ) Also, there's no penalty for falling off the map, if you die you restart the level but if you fall.. nothing happens. probably because falling is so easy but it doesn't feel right. 3. The enemy variation doesn't feel interesting, they just get more powerful and don't really work well together. 4. Sometimes bodies just.. levitate in the air while you're trying to flow around, and this seems like it's for allowing you to combo but sometimes I'll do an uppercut kick and they'll just float out of reach. 5. The red skull attacks are kinda stupid at times, it makes sense for king ballista but sometimes when heavies get launched off the map they'll use their recovery and go invisible until you hit the ground, then they'll just tp to you. 6. Final boss was a pushover with the spear, killed him in like 5 tries, then the same try I used the spear I killed him. I liked the game but it was heavily lacking in some areas. Also, a map editor would be awesome. I can see people doing super fun stuff with something like that.

UPDATED TO REFLECT RECENT CHANGES Overall, i recommend the game. However there are MAJOR issues i feel that make the game *very* frustrating, as opposed to difficult. I'll delve into it all through various paragraphs below Firstly, i want to preface that this has been my most hyped game for a good year, and i was excited for it even before that. The demo was very fun, so my hype for this game was at an all time high. Sadly, in it's current state, i don't feel it's quite reached the levels i hoped it would, but the good news is that, if cptnsigh decides to look into my critiques, the issues i personally feel the game has can be remedied. The things i love about the game will be at the bottom, as i want my criticism to be the forefront of this, so that it can hopefully be addressed in some way I have made it through to the "Cold Blood" level as of writing this review, which for the unaware, is the third chapter in the game. And unfortunately i feel everything after the first area is flawed, difficulty spikes feel way too inconsistent. i have accidentally SSS'd a level (in chapter 2 to be exact, don't remember the level name), while spending about an hour to not even be able to S another that came right after it. Difficulty is all over the place, and i wanna explain why i feel that is Issues: F̶i̶r̶s̶t̶l̶y̶,̶ ̶S̶p̶i̶d̶e̶r̶s̶.̶.̶.̶ ̶t̶h̶e̶y̶ ̶a̶r̶e̶n̶'̶t̶ ̶f̶u̶n̶.̶ ̶a̶s̶ ̶a̶n̶o̶t̶h̶e̶r̶ ̶p̶e̶r̶s̶o̶n̶ ̶s̶a̶i̶d̶ ̶i̶n̶ ̶t̶h̶e̶i̶r̶ ̶r̶e̶v̶i̶e̶w̶,̶ ̶i̶n̶ ̶t̶h̶e̶ ̶d̶e̶m̶o̶ ̶t̶h̶e̶y̶ ̶w̶e̶r̶e̶ ̶f̶a̶i̶r̶l̶y̶ ̶m̶a̶n̶a̶g̶e̶a̶b̶l̶e̶.̶ ̶h̶e̶r̶e̶ ̶t̶h̶o̶u̶g̶h̶,̶ ̶t̶h̶e̶i̶r̶ ̶a̶t̶t̶a̶c̶k̶s̶ ̶v̶a̶r̶y̶ ̶w̶i̶d̶e̶l̶y̶ ̶i̶n̶ ̶a̶g̶g̶r̶e̶s̶s̶i̶v̶e̶n̶e̶s̶s̶ ̶a̶n̶d̶ ̶i̶n̶ ̶t̶h̶e̶ ̶h̶e̶a̶t̶ ̶o̶f̶ ̶t̶h̶e̶ ̶m̶o̶m̶e̶n̶t̶,̶ ̶i̶ ̶t̶e̶n̶d̶ ̶t̶o̶ ̶h̶a̶v̶e̶ ̶d̶i̶f̶f̶i̶c̶u̶l̶t̶y̶ ̶d̶i̶f̶f̶e̶r̶e̶n̶t̶i̶a̶t̶i̶n̶g̶ ̶n̶o̶r̶m̶a̶l̶ ̶a̶n̶d̶ ̶e̶x̶p̶l̶o̶s̶i̶v̶e̶ ̶s̶p̶i̶d̶e̶r̶s̶,̶ ̶s̶o̶m̶e̶t̶i̶m̶e̶s̶ ̶l̶e̶a̶d̶i̶n̶g̶ ̶t̶o̶ ̶a̶ ̶c̶h̶e̶a̶p̶,̶ ̶a̶n̶n̶o̶y̶i̶n̶g̶ ̶h̶i̶t̶.̶ ̶m̶a̶y̶ ̶j̶u̶s̶t̶ ̶b̶e̶ ̶m̶e̶,̶ ̶b̶u̶t̶ ̶i̶ ̶f̶e̶e̶l̶ ̶t̶h̶e̶r̶e̶ ̶n̶e̶e̶d̶s̶ ̶t̶o̶ ̶b̶e̶ ̶a̶n̶ ̶e̶a̶s̶i̶e̶r̶ ̶w̶a̶y̶ ̶t̶o̶ ̶t̶e̶l̶l̶ ̶t̶h̶e̶s̶e̶ ̶t̶w̶o̶ ̶a̶p̶a̶r̶t̶,̶ ̶a̶n̶d̶ ̶t̶h̶e̶y̶ ̶n̶e̶e̶d̶ ̶t̶o̶ ̶h̶a̶v̶e̶ ̶m̶o̶r̶e̶ ̶c̶o̶n̶s̶i̶s̶t̶e̶n̶t̶ ̶s̶p̶e̶e̶d̶.̶ - After a recent patch, most spider related issues have been addressed. they're still hard to tell apart from each other, but otherwise they're way better N̶e̶x̶t̶ ̶u̶p̶,̶ ̶I̶ ̶f̶e̶e̶l̶ ̶t̶h̶e̶ ̶h̶i̶t̶b̶o̶x̶e̶s̶ ̶o̶n̶ ̶a̶ ̶l̶o̶t̶ ̶o̶f̶ ̶i̶n̶t̶e̶r̶a̶c̶t̶a̶b̶l̶e̶s̶ ̶a̶r̶e̶ ̶w̶a̶y̶ ̶t̶o̶o̶ ̶s̶m̶a̶l̶l̶.̶ ̶W̶a̶y̶ ̶t̶o̶o̶ ̶m̶a̶n̶y̶ ̶t̶i̶m̶e̶s̶ ̶h̶a̶v̶e̶ ̶i̶ ̶t̶o̶u̶c̶h̶e̶d̶ ̶a̶ ̶r̶o̶p̶e̶,̶ ̶j̶u̶s̶t̶ ̶f̶o̶r̶ ̶m̶y̶ ̶c̶h̶a̶r̶a̶c̶t̶e̶r̶ ̶t̶o̶ ̶i̶ ̶g̶u̶e̶s̶s̶ ̶b̶e̶ ̶e̶v̶e̶r̶ ̶s̶o̶ ̶s̶l̶i̶g̶h̶t̶l̶y̶ ̶o̶f̶f̶ ̶(̶e̶v̶e̶n̶ ̶i̶f̶ ̶i̶'̶m̶ ̶s̶u̶r̶e̶ ̶i̶ ̶t̶o̶u̶c̶h̶e̶d̶ ̶i̶t̶)̶,̶ ̶l̶e̶a̶d̶i̶n̶g̶ ̶t̶o̶ ̶m̶e̶ ̶m̶i̶s̶s̶i̶n̶g̶ ̶t̶h̶e̶ ̶r̶o̶p̶e̶ ̶a̶n̶d̶ ̶f̶a̶l̶l̶i̶n̶g̶ ̶t̶o̶ ̶t̶h̶e̶ ̶a̶b̶y̶s̶s̶,̶ ̶w̶h̶i̶c̶h̶ ̶o̶f̶ ̶c̶o̶u̶r̶s̶e̶,̶ ̶i̶s̶ ̶a̶ ̶h̶i̶t̶,̶ ̶o̶r̶ ̶e̶v̶e̶n̶ ̶a̶ ̶d̶e̶a̶t̶h̶ - Fixed with a recent patch. haven't unfairly missed a rope since updating Next up, the game does not really do a good job of explaining most things to me. Some things get a text pop up explaining them, other times, the only way to get an idea of how a thing works is to just mess with it, or sometimes manage to come across a pictured hint on the geometry of a level. in a game that i'm trying to speed through levels to maintain both momentum, as well as my Rank Meter, making me need to stop to look at an image and puzzle what it means isn't a great idea in my opinion. maybe it's done this way to incentivize playing the game slowly the first time around, and once you know everything, going back through and SSS'ing the levels. but that hasn't been particularly conveyed to me. though this could entirely be my fault, i may be missing something, if so, hopefully cptnsigh will reply and correct or inform me Finally, momentum. It feels wildly inconsistent. I can't even put my finger on why exactly, some things that i do slow me to a crawl when they otherwise wouldn't. And on the contrary, dashing to weapons feels like it throws me way too far. many of my deaths have been getting flung off the map by just trying to grab a weapon. Again, maybe i'm doing something wrong? I fully intend on continuing through the game and will revise this section if i feel i'm improving enough for this to be user error Reasons it's worth getting: Apart from the aforementioned issues, the game is *very* tight to control. All the little animations added to weapons, from swinging to throwing to deflecting/parrying, make them extremely satisfying to use. Every weapon is fun to use, and feels weighty enough that when you hit enemies, the way they react will never get old. The physics systems are very satisfying and the ways they complement the gameplay add a lot to the overall experience Art style is one of my favorites i've seen from a recent game release. This is for sure a unique and good looking game, and it performs extremely well. no complaints with the art style, visual quality, and designs of the game Music is very well done. Not much to say on it other than it's great, the music during "The Lancers" is definitely my favorite thus far. Cannot wait for a soundtrack release, will be buying when/if it comes to steam Overall, even with the issues i presented, it's still my indie game of the year. I love it and see myself 100%ing it's achievements, but would love for my issues with it to be addressed first. I feel the core of the game is absolutely amazing. i just hope the kinks can be ironed out. or i'm having a skill issue lmao

grapple hooked off a chandelier and drop kicked a spider into a pile of barrels broke the barrel over a knights head, slidekicked him off a ledge, took his sword, then threw it three floors up into a tiny wooden pallet so I could trampouline off an archers head and use the sword as leverage to get to the end of the level, skipping several enemies along the way 10/10
