ESSENTIAL FIXES Get Special K (google it) its free and piss easy to use/configure 1. Activate Tonemapped HDR for superior picture/presentation 2. Activate Nvidia reflex mode (Low latency + boost), at 222.9 fps you get 0.19ms latency. Which is almost e-sport quality of low latency. Get Lyall's fix on pcgamingwiki (google). Extract the contents to your install folder 1. Many improvements including uncapped FPS and improved LOD

Alright, let's get the important stuff out of the way first. The remaster could be better. There are no video options beyond brightness, and the keyboard and mouse controls are only rebindable with a utility you have to use before you launch the game, though mouse sensitivity and camera speed can be changed at any time. I get that this is using very old tech and probably a nightmare to reverse engineer for modern standards a decade after the fact, but it is disappointing. All that being said, I am very, very happy to get to be able to play this again without having to dig out my Xbox 360. This game was envisioned as a radically different project, but Shadows of the Damned remains charmingly absurd in spite of EA games demanding an overwhelming amount of change during production. Is it a must play? No, but its a Suda 51 game. That means at the very least, it's you're going to have a weird and memorable time one way or the other. Edit: Unsure if Steam will let me link this, but a modder on Github has already uncapped the framerate, among other improvements. It's still very early obviously, but nice to see! https://github.com/Lyall/SotDFix?tab=readme-ov-file

I miss this era of games. Linear levels, cutscenes that don't drag on, and not having to do filler side-quests to receive upgrades. Well worth the price. If you want to maximize upgrades, pop some knees and get to stomping.

It's the almost the same as the 360 version I still own to this very day, with zero PC options added. Didn't assume it'd be getting much with it's budget pricing, but I'm personally okay with that. So most folks expecting an actual PC port are going to be very disappointed. Thankfully it's still the dumb, funny, clunky-beautiful game it always has been. Would still recommend it to anyone with a puerile sense of humor that also enjoys movies like Evil Dead 2 and Dead Alive. Going to fart around with UE ini settings and see if I can reduce the vignette and add in some AA. Cause under the hood it's still an old UE game at the end of the day. For better or worse.

Only took 13 years to release on Steam. How shall we describe this game in 2024? "Absolutely not for modern audiences." It might be your cup of tea if you enjoyed Resident Evil 4 and The Evil Within games. Humor is what Shadows of the Damned has. That metal music in the 2nd trailer plays early in the game. I once bought the soundtrack for that song only to find out it wasn't even in there. What the F. Thanks, Akira Yamaoka!
