The most sinister and evil atmosphere in a game ever made. Even the sound of the gun seems like the lament of an otherworldly soul!! A classic ahead of its time!! The devs make a great job in this remaster with new levels, better controls, lights, darkest and scariest enemys. But what this game really deserves is a remake.

Shadowman is probably one of the best games released for the n64, ps1 and dreamcast. and this remaster just adds all the things that got cut due to hardware limitations back then...making it one of the best remasters out there. if you want a good old school adventure game, look no further. and thank me later!

There's something horribly wrong with the gaming industry when a remaster of a 25 years old jank-ass game is vastly more entertaining than most recently released titles.

I haven't played the original Shadow Man from 1999, so I can't speak on that version, but this remaster is solid. Shadow Man Remastered is a very competent 3D metroidvania, especially for a game originally from 1999. It's a fun, ambitious, and lengthy experience that didn't feel like it overstayed its welcome. It's well paced and rewarding, although some level designs did end up breaking the pacing a bit. The game has excellent sound design with a really good soundtrack (minus a couple of songs) that adds to Shadow Man's already near-perfect voodoo atmosphere. My biggest complaint with the game is that a lot of the levels are maze-like and have a very samey look to them, making it difficult to navigate. I spent a lot of time just wandering levels, hoping to find the one door or corridor that I haven't gone through yet. This is the only real major negative thing I can say about the game. Highly recommend everyone play and beat this.

I gave this game probably a dozen playthroughs on the PS1 and played even through the older steam version. You can imagine my surprise when I encountered a boss I had never seen before whithin the first couple of hours. And it didn't stop there. The people behind this remaster went through great lengths to restore cut content and present a 'complete' version that unfortunately did not came to be as intended in 1999. You likely won't get the appeal of this game if you didn't play it in the early 00s, but to me it's unique setting, esoteric-religious themes and eerie atmosphere hold a fascination that lasted through the decades. The soundtrack alone is one of a kind with its clash of industrial noise jungle ethno mash-ups, that you won't hear anywhere else on this planet.
