This game is good, but feels like the weakest of the canon entries of the series. The best thing about this game is the combat. You can cancel attacks & guard at any time, FEEL the difference in different characters' flights, & the characters that felt clunky in the previous game have all been fixed. I think my least favourite thing is the way every character has the same transformation. It feels more like following a formula than showcasing the girls' personalities. Other than that, it didn't make me feel much. The story wasn't that interesting except for Hebijo, but it's all still canon, so snag this game once it's on sale.

A fun game with more limited scope compared to the other games in the series due to its handheld root. There are clear texture issues and the controls are clunky. But this is easily forgiven due to the fun gameplay.

The combat is awful, if you want a good game get burst renewal or estival versus... Also fuck Hibari, clunky ass pos character Other than that... good tiddies and the story is very nice :D

gameplay is pretty jarring because you're encouraged to play offensively AND defensively but the defensive mechanics they give you never rlly work so you're better off just slashing like a madman. completing it is only rlly a chore because of grindy achievements but still worth it

Playing this game again has honestly really just hit me with a nostalgic sadness that I'll seemingly never be able to follow this series further and see the girls journey through. Honestly, what I thought was nostalgia glasses for the first game in the series I played back in 2015 really was a lot more than that. This is my favourite game in the Senran Kagura series and I'm only left with depression that the series is either dead now or on an unknown painfully long hiatus thanks to Sony. The combat is very simple yet can brutally punish you out of nowhere for letting your guard down with parries feeling very satisfying to pull off. The difficulty spike is pretty harsh if you play on hard so if you're looking for more of a challenge its got you covered. You will be rewarded with stuns for playing tactically or if you prefer to just cheese it you can do that too by just spamming shinobi arts once you gain a few levels. If you like to take the all or nothing approach you can sacrifice pretty much all of your defence for power with frantic mode which is very high risk high reward where you can one shot the enemy pretty easily but the same also goes for their hits on you. The biggest and most important reason why I love this game above the others - the story. This game (Not all too similar to Burst) has a much more serious story than its later releases. It can go from happy and silly to dark and serious real quickly and imo, it has a very good mix of both. I found myself both laughing and crying all over again whilst playing through the main story 9 years later. There are 4 story arcs and each one has a full separate playthrough with each one having a slightly different narrative favouring the chosen team. There are also side missions called Shinobi Girls Heart that are just purely silly and short. This game has very sexual comedy and clothing breaks during combat. You can fully strip your opponent which will be censored by light bars and face icons. This is not forced censorship this is to comply with the standards in Japan of not making it an AO rated game. Do not buy this if you are offended by lewdness and degeneracy but if that's your thing like me and you like a good narrative, I can't recommend this game enough. The soundtrack and voice acting are fantastic too. Homura's Crimson Squad for life. Yomi best girl. ♥
