After I bought Keep Driving by YCJY Games, decided to support developers team by purchasing all their games in deluxe edition and I am extremely happy by my choice. Sea Salt is an atmospheric blend of horror and strategy, with a recognizable visual style that immediately grabs you.The dark art by Josef Martinovsky is heavily inspired by Mike Mignola, gives the game a moody, gothic feel that perfectly complements its eerie Lovecraftian aesthetics. Controlling a swarm of eldritch horrors to wipe out humanity is both unique and incredibly satisfying. The main musical theme perfectly fits into the game.Setting the perfect tone for the creeping dread that unfolds. Despite the grim setting, the amusing, garbled voices of the NPCs add an unexpected charm and fun, lol. If you enjoy dark aesthetics, strategic gameplay, and a bit of cosmic terror (with a touch of humor), this game is definitely a MUST-PLAY!

Surprisingly boring game. No complaints about the setting, no complaints about the atmosphere, no complaints about the graphics, but after half an hour the charm of the dark Lovecraftian universe disappears and only dull, casual gameplay remains in the form of a crowd of minions following the player's pentagram (WASD). You can attack with them, you can dodge projectiles with them, you can do nothing with them, that's all. Sometimes the minions, in their boundless hatred of civilization, begin to gnaw nearby barrels instead of enemies.

Personally, it just genuinely makes me upset. Yes, you pick your fights and everything, tactics and strategy are required, but the actual setup is all so slow, and some cutscenes just aren't able to be skipped sometimes, like the display of a new enemy. This makes the pace of the game quite bad. Other than that though, it's VERY solid with everything else. The quality of life and some gameplay is just the problem, like the cultists targetting walls instead of enemies (therefore requiring you to clear the walls out first, which means, screw up an encounter later in the room? Need to sit through that process again, yay!), or the swarm alerting literally every other encounter in the room immediately. Restart after restart - I'm not complaining about its difficulty, I'd just like it to all go smoother and faster, instead of needing to do steps one through whatever again with every fail.

Some will find the controlling of your units in this game frustrating. Micromanagement of your horde just doesn't exist and you will lose units to stupid ai behavior. However, treating my horde as a singular unit that must dodge and attack enemy units worked fairly well. I was one character made of many that, while inevitably losing some of my mass, was able to regain more units fairly quickly. I think most who gave this game a negative review approached gameplay more as an RTS. This isn't an RTS, it is a top-down action adventure. A game actually more similar to the game "Carrion" by "Phobia Game Studio". Both games require you controlling a mass that is actually quite vulnerable to enemy attack, even though you are a horde of scary monsters. Or in Carrion's case a massive, tentacally, slime monster.

Rather short, but great game. Pro: You quickly get new units to choose from and a lot of different enemies to encounter - around 16 diff units in total (I added special units from apostels) - movement of your units. I didnt get the feeling, "Damn I ve lost to the controls here" - There are 12 levels and they mostly felt fresh - boss fights are great, but rather easy - I had access to 4 / 6 apostels after 1-2 hours ca. and the playstyle differs a bit Con: Levels are seperated in multiple stages. You carry on your units to the next stage. I created ONCE a level where I simply couldnt beat the stage, bc I had 2 units. But this happens not that often. Some Units are way stronger than others. I d nerf heroes a bit and buff the rest. The story is rather forgettable, but I had to chuckle here and there Other stuff: The first time you encounter a new enemy you are kinda allowed to fuck up once. You instantly lose e.g half your enemies to a new enemy, but there is always an altar to get new units right after that. I think thats good level design, bc you dont need to restart a stage here and can just carry on :) Also if you want to play on easy mode choose the cultist 9/10 times and add crabes or any front unit as meat shield. The units you get from sacreficing cultist are also chefs kiss. I dont recommend the cheat cards from one apostel, as they are really expensive for what they do. And the spitters are insanely strong.
