-- Edit, 3 months later -- This is my favorite game of the year. I enjoyed it so much that I routed a speedrun of it. The game has so much variety and action that it is fun even during a replay. A bit more info on the game: A casual play is 8-10 hours, depending on how much time you spend fishing. There are some extra secrets and achievements to get, that would take about 5-10 hours on top of that. The English translation has been redone, and is a lot better. The story isn't groundbreaking, but it has a charm and silliness that I greatly enjoyed. I hope someday there is DLC with new areas and Sea'AZ, or even a sequel! -- original review -- This game is incredible. The fishing battles are fun. The gameplay loop is so fast and satisfying that it's hard to put down. You don't have to wait for a fish to bite. Fish respawn almost instantly after catching one in most areas. You can finish a battle and start another one within a second if you want. But you don't have to! All non-boss battles are initiated by you. There are no forced random encounters. The game is loaded with boss fights with unique mechanics. There are a lot of sections where a different genre of gameplay is mixed in. The translation is a bit weird in some places, but the story and dialogue have a lot of incredibly funny moments. 10/10

I love fishing minigames in other games and i would always go 'man what if an entire game was like this?' then call myself stupid because how would that even work? Well this is how.

Pros : - unique fishing game. has Castlevania vibes as well in some mini game or fight the boss. - you can craft too (craft pole and hook) - good story line - can raise and reset status Cons : - you can beat the whole current game in 1 day (I beat the whole game in 12 hours, I still also searching the material for crafting and other equipment as well, not just strike the main story) the developer write in the credit that there will be another further update for this game. since the story is not yet complete. - you can play the mini game only once (once you fight the boss, the boss will only appear for fishing will never swing the sword on that boss again) - suffer at first, sell the material or save for the craft? since your only way to get money is selling the material. Recommended? Of Course Yes. Personally I like Fishing Game

I've just started playing, and I'll recommend this game with a couple of caveats. Pros: The fishing itself is engaging. A bar slides across the screen and you need to time your click within a long blue bar to do 1x damage or a small yellow bar for double damage. If you take too long or miss, you take hp damage, which can be healed with potions. If you like fishing games, this will be good for you ... it has a rhythm type game feel to it, and you can upgrade your rod, use bait, and upgrade your skill. All positives here. Cons: The devs are obviously not native English speakers, so many of the descriptions are hard to figure out. In addition, if spelling and grammar mistakes upset you, then this is not for you (for example, bord instead of board). The dialogue from the characters move slowly ... to be kind, it's "old school." Overall, I think if the fishing in cozy style games is what you like, then you'll like this and its depth. I may update this once I get more playing time, but if this sounds like your thing, then it probably is. UPDATE: The devs seem to be actively working to fix the translation issues and are updating the game frequently. These are additional positive signs.

I often half-jokingly tell people that my favorite part of my favorite games is the finishing mini-game, so they showed me this thinking I'd like it. They were right, this is amazing, and more than just a fishing sim. The core controls, the added mechanics for boss fights, the OTHER mini-games introduced as you go through the game, all of it is a treat. There are some rough edges, certainly, and performance has been improving at each patch, but the plot is coherent and the dialogue is easy to follow even when a word might not be quite right for a particular sentence. Sea Fantasy also runs great on the Steam Deck (docked and undocked), which is a nice bonus. Play this game if you've ever wanted to be gone fishin' at your desk.
