Before Scarlet Tower didn't play any of these type of games. It seems there are more and more games like this being released recently. Can't say I am a massive fan of the genre but this game somehow wheeled me in. The game isn't difficult as it seems to be about bullet dodging and levelling up. Played through a couple of levels so far and the fact you can just play this for half an hour and then go do something else makes it really attractive. The loop is short enough to get through and gives you a lot of gratifying upgrades while doing it. The only thing it misses, is that it could be slightly more difficult to play as I quite easily can finish the next level when being able to complete the previous difficulty.

The last update 21 Nov. 2024 did not balance anything but it did fix minor and major bugs showing the developer is actively working on fixing and updating the game!

People complaining are mostly older players that got used to easily one shotting everything being one shot to the new content. The devs added equipments which heavily influence stats, older players aren't willing to put more hours to get some gear and dedided to just complain about the game. I totally recommend it as a new player, it's fun and has lots of QOL compared to other bullet heavens

I will recommend this game with a bit of a warning. This game is fun, and lots of things to unlock and explore, but... You will have very little clue what is going on. You will die and not know what killed you and you will get no explanation. Early game is fun while you check things out and think you will get used to the game play. The amount of reading you need to do for skills and mastery to try and make sense of how to build will deter some folks. You can blindly play for a while, but it will not get you far that way. Late game becomes nothing but a scramble to try and pad yourself with HP and shields. If you do not focus this every run you will lose. If you focus it every run you will still lose a lot. You need a stupid amount of luck to get the right weapons to drop to get you the right mastery access. You have 3 rerolls and some runs they don't like to drop at all. Banish doesn't work which makes it much harder. Many of the passives seem to be bugged, don't work, or maybe I just have no f-ing clue what is going on still. The mini-map will do its best to deceive you while you sprint to something you need and find out that it isn't actually there when it suddenly vanishes from your map. It seems like it will come down to grinding resources for upgrading runes (and there is no health rune, so suck it if you think that will help with the HP problem), which is your only way to become stronger after you unlock all the basic things, which happens quite quickly. I find myself less eager to keep doing runs knowing almost everything relies on luck, and the passive for a rebirth during a run has never been functional. If you like this style game you may enjoy it, but do not expect a game anywhere near finished.
