This game is THE RPG. It is so reactive to what you say, and its writing is of such high quality that it doesn't need any other game-play besides its dialogue to hook you. I can't remember the post I saw, but they perfectly described the game's dialogue as a having an actual conversation rather than an interrogation. The game doesn't force me to give input when i don't want to, and it'll let me say my piece while perfectly accounting for either choice. It's not just the dialogue. The game gives you the ability to tailor the character to you, or any ROLE you're trying to PLAY with the many traits you can start the game with and with all the choices you can make define who you are in the Holler. If you like Baldur's Gate III or any other RPG for the actual "Role-Playing" buy this game NOW. It's even on sale at the time of my review. (P.S. also get Slay the Princess; It is a good game, and it supports Abby and Tony) (If you get STP don't hate on it for not being as big as SH. It is a great game, just at a smaller scale, so don't expect it to be the same monster of a title that is Scarlet Hollow)

Oh my god I got this after I got Slay The Princess and my expectations were high because I have played such a good game from this dev. They were blown out of the water. If I'm being honest with you I can't tell you which game I like more. This game is so incredibly good. Everything from the dialogue to the traits to the literally everything else its just perfection. I wanna marry Wayne

The traits system actually makes all the playthroughs feel unique and it feels like the choices matter. And I would actually die and/or sacrifice the town for Dustin.

Okay so. My mom is not a gamer. My mom uses her mouse upside down. She's 64 and gets overwhelmed by playing the mariokart maps that don't stay flat. However, she LOVES to read. I set my mom up on her computer with this being the only steam game ever downloaded. I watched her play all 4 chapters. She was SO excited. The fact that she got to make her own decisions and that it impacted her story so significantly was super thrilling for her. "It's like a choose your own adventure book!" Correct. She ended up doing almost every single possible thing DIFFERENTLY than I did. It was very fun to watch someone with 0 "game sense" play something that has consequences. I gave her no hints other than technical help. She was also amazed by the artwork and how little details in the background MATTERED rather than just being put there as flavor. I adore this game, and I am so happy that she loves it as much as I do. I was worried it would be too scary for her. I think it was the perfect amount. Enough to get the heebie jeebies but not enough to want to turn the game off. Uhg I love this game so much. We played in 2 sessions, at the end of chapter 4 she was fully ready to play the next one. I had to remind her 5 wasn't out yet! "They can just DO THAT to us!?" Safe to say she is very excited for Chapter 5! Thanks for giving my mom and I a lovely bonding experience. <3
