I'd gotten the original Savant - Ascent back when it was, like, genuinely 2 bucks on Steam. I can't actually remember whether I found this song or the music artist it's centered around (the eponymous Savant) first. I.... THINK their song Starfish was included in an EDM megamix I'd used to listen to on Soundcloud that has long-since been deleted. So, when I'd seen a game relating to them, I was VERY baffled, but... thought I'd try it. Best $2 I've ever spent in a video game. Hands down. No contest. The total package of the game is brief and simple, sure, but it's SO HIGH OCTANE. And high value. I'm honestly shocked that they didn't consider it worth $7 minimum on release. At this point, it's $10 if not on sale for the Remix version, and I'd argue that the value is still there. And even though they're separated into two halves, there's more in the Classic Version than I remember as well. (At minimum, this is 1000x more value than any League of Legends skin will ever be.)

Cool game, great music, scared by the high scores, and now friends play it through family share. Good game. Also don't remember buying this so also thanks for upgrade.

While the names they decided for the different game modes are a bit confusing since "re-mix mode" is like a toned down version of the original game and the "classic mode" has most of the original powers and some added ones too, it's a nice little game. Before they added the classic mode I would've recommended the original release over this one but now it's overall an improvement I think.

As I haven't played the original this is basically a review for both: It's a cool idea and the music and visuals are good but the game-play is just lacking some an essence of complexity. Creating bounds or rules (in this case having two platforms) for players is to create challenge and allows devs to do more by assuming less - unfortunately this wasn't utilised much in this game On top of that you can finish this game readily in under an hour - So the £8.50 price tag isn't worth it - maybe go buy the original 6/10 cool idea, uninspired execution - but hey it's basically a self insert for the musician, right?
