This is a GEM of a game! The open world has a lot to do and explore. Personally I felt that the later iterations lost a little bit of that artistic soul that made the open world feet more alive and dynamic. With that said, the PC Port for Saints Row is poorly optimized. You will have to manually download and install a few essential fixes to make the game playable again. [Which, I'll list them out below] 01. STEAMLESS (An extremely essential DRM Removal tool) https://github.com/atom0s/Steamless/releases [*] Download The Latest Version of Steamless from the link above. [*] Launch the Steamless executable. [*] Locate your SR2_pc.exe. [found where Saints Row 2 is installed] [*] Select the "Unpack File" option to remove Steam DRM. [*] Rename the newly created "SR2_pc.exe.unpacked" file to simply "SR2_pc.exe" to replace your original executable. 02. Large Address Awareness Patch (4GB Patch) https://ntcore.com/4gb-patch/ [*] Download the 4GB Patch from the above link. [*] Extract and Launch the 4gb patch executable. [*] Locate your SR2_pc.exe to apply the patch. [found where Saints Row 2 is installed] [*] Select the "Okay" option when it's done. 03. DXVK Patch https://github.com/doitsujin/dxvk/releases [*] Download the Latest Version of DXVK from the above link. [*] Extract/open the latest version of the dxvk.tar.gc file [*] Within you'll find a folder named "x32" [*] Copy "d3d9.dll" and "dxgi.dll" [*] Paste both files where SR2_pc.exe is located. [found where Saints Row 2 is installed] 04. Saints Row 2 Juiced https://www.saintsrowmods.com/forum/threads/saints-row-2-juiced-patch.21627/ [*] Download the latest version of this patch. [*] Extract all the files and folders of the patch to where SR2_pc.exe is located. [*] Open the "reloaded.ini" configuration file using a text editor. [*] Carefully read through and Manually enable essential fixes one by one. [*] Avoid enabling anything that has "Experimental" flag [*] Save and Close. 05. Gentlemen of the Row Mod https://www.saintsrowmods.com/forum/threads/gentlemen-of-the-row.24/ [*] Download Gentlemen of the Row v1.9.2 from the above link. [*] The Installation instructions are provided within, it is fairly simple and easy to follow. 06. RADMIN VPN (Use this to play coop with friends!) https://www.radmin-vpn.com (The Juiced patch does provide another way to play CO-OP and Multiplayer using Openspy, but you may need to port-forward and possibly change your firewall settings etc to get it to work - I personally prefer Radmin VPN since it's free and easy to setup and it offers you a safe virtual local area network without much hassle) [*] You and your friends must Download and Install Radmin VPN. (it's completely free). [*] You must 'Create A Network' within Radmin VPN for you and yours friends. [*] Share the Name and Password of your Network to your friend/friends. [*] You and your friends then needs to connect to that Network. [*] Start Saints Row 2, then you can Start/Host/Load a CO-OP > LAN PLAY from the main menu. [*] Your friend can then Find Your Game and Request to Join you under the COOP LAN menu. [*] You both need to Make sure that you have installed all the fixes and mods mentioned above. [*] You both Need to have absolutely identical Installations of the "Gentlemen of the Row Mod". And with that, you can enjoy this game with your friends or by self to your hearts content!

Usually, people tend to put either episode 2 or 3 in the number 1 spot when it comes to the Saints Row series. Personally, I prefer The Third but whichever episode you played most one thing is for sure: it all started with Saints Row 2 on PC. The first part has always been Xbox exclusive. I wish this one got a Remastered version! There is a compilation of its cutscenes on YouTube and the videos still look great. Why play it now? I had a quick glance at the latest (and last) part and it was too bright for me. Not sure why they ditched a lot of things and decided to take the reboot route. What about Gat out of Hell ? Meh... it was always a bit of a mystery for me so I never played it. For me Saints Row is part 3 and 4 (yes, the idea of a Matrix-like version fascinated me). Now, this one picks up the story where it was left off. The gang is still in Stilwater - Steelport was only introduced later as the main setting. I can imagine people fell in love with part 2 immediately: it already had realistic physics (the graphics were not as next-gen as in GTA IV that was released in the same year but this was definitely ahead San Andreas in terms of technology). We saw full character customisation for the first time and picking different gender and race meant different voice actors (altogether 6 of them if I'm not mistaken). If you started with The Third then you never got mad at Volition for getting rid of Gat who appears to be the first person you recruit as you get ouf of prison. Then you continue with Shaundi and Pierce later on. One hour in you already have lots of missions and activities you can choose from and 2 cribs. While Part 2 is still not as serious as any GTA (essentially a trademark of the series) it isn't as crazy as The Third became later on. If you don't mind the dated graphics and that the FPS value varies between 40 and 60 on the highest settings (for no apparent reason) then pick this one up. Ditch the reboot!

Not the greatest port... but its fixed just look up GOTR.... This game is the BEST SR ever made and they should have extended the story from here rather than erasing the progression.. Idol Ninja (community manager I think and a SR modder before hand) fixed the game and posted it online. and pushed to get this game patched with a new appID and it would have been free to current owners. He passed away a week or so before the Reveal of the NEW SR... actually fucking dispicable no matter where you cut it. People are SPED but its good all you need it s GOTR custom patcher made by Idol Ninja ( R.I.P ) He was gonna be responsible to putting this big patch as a actual update to the game if he didn't get ill and pass over... THIS GAME NOT BEING PATCHED AS PROMISED IS A CONSTANT REMINDER OF VOLITIONS NEGLIGENCE OF THE REAL FANDOM AND WHAT WE ALWAYS WANTED OUT OF THIS FORGOTTEN MISERABLE FRANCHISE.

After the flippy video, and the behind the scenes of whatever the **** is happening between saints row's parent company(s). I hope the fan base can come together to demand that Official patch, which Idolninja would've wanted to get out there so this game can goddamn live officially again, and not on the backbone of hard workers (not the company) that actually love the community and this franchise. In its current state, the game requires the GOTR, Gentlemen Of The Row, mod to function pretty flawlessly. It's a small little detour, but this game deserves that tinsy bit of effort because of its official neglect. Saint's Row 2 is the last and best actual entry in the series, this game is amazing, and deserves a proper port. Even though the series has quite literally been sabotaged, and I doubt can recover, I hope this game gets the patch it deserves. By this point in time, the story might be cliche and done to death, but it still keeps some moments, and has actual comedic beats unlike the newer entries. If I could boot up this game, co op with friends and pimp slap them into oblivion, or lead them into a false sense of security with moongravity and invincibility and drive face first into a fucking petrol station, I would do so gladly.
