Let me preface with this: IF YOU ARE NOT SKILLED AT PRECISION PLATFORMING, YOU WILL LIKELY NEVER FINISH THIS GAME. IF YOU GET FRUSTRATED EASILY, THEN YOU WON'T LIKE THIS GAME. With that being said, Rusted Moss is a pretty great game if you are the target audience. The grapple is fun, the physics are pretty good, the combat is simple but nice, and the music and visuals are good. The item progression isn't very exciting but functions okay. There's a surprising amount of levels in the game, and at times it feels more like a pure platformer than a metroidvania. It's a difficult game, but it's often forgiving, including plenty of unlockable shortcuts, save points, and healing spots in the middle of tough platforming sections. But in the later optional areas, as well as one of the final bosses, it can suddenly become incredibly UNFORGIVING, offering an uncompromising barrier to people who lack the supreme dexterity required to become good enough to overcome brutal timed challenges and hectic fights. But I give kudos to the developers for at least being smart and considerate enough to try their best to add telegraphs and tells to every single attack in the game; it goes a long way to making it feel more like fun difficulty rather than BS difficulity. Overall, I like it a lot and would recommend it to hardcore fans of platforming and metroidvanias, with again a caveat about it being brutally hard at times, sometimes to an annoying degree.
