I originally got this game as a prize from a cereal box like 18 years ago. Still holds up.

I like being able to arrange the park, play the same game & change it completely just by using different rides. Of course, I like winning. What I don't like is the placement of the controls. The original game had the controls all on the upper left side which worked very well. The controls from the lower right side are hard for me to decipher. I think they are a bit confusing. I can't figure out how to buy land (it was easy in the original version), and I can't figure out how to build from scratch.; so I can only go so far and have to stop.

The RCT you know and love from the 90s, reworked for today's systems and it looks exactly how you remember it (not how it actually was) and pretty much contains absolutely everything from 1 and 2 together. I have played both the OG games countless hours, back when they came out and again through re-releases on platforms like GOG. There is just something about Chris Sawyer's wunderkind that has never really been captured again. Whether it's the perfect marriage of complexity of design with simplicity of interface or really just that they were so well-made that they are the very definition of timeless. Either way, a quick perusal of all the scenarios and rides available confirms that pretty much everything you could be looking for in re-experiencing RCT is here. You get the benefit of all the additions of RCT2 with the easier learning curve of RCT1 all in one single package. The only hang-up is that the UI has been reworked for touch screens as this is a port of the mobile version. Wait, don't leave just yet! Everything can still be done via hotkeys (and if you're any sort of RCT expert, you'll be using them instead of clicking everything) and honestly, aside from scrolling through a few menus in the options, you get used to it pretty quickly. You may need to adjust your workflow a little bit in order to acclimate to the new interface, but it's pretty smooth sailing. Not to mention that you've got native HD support plus multiple levels of zoom as opposed to the original 3-locked-distances design. I like that Origin8 has brought this game safely into the future and the only reason it's taken me so long to get around to it is because I have played all of this so much in my life already. None of its compromises with the interface impact the game whatsoever and it still plays exactly like it did decades ago. It seems a little faster than I remember, but other than that, anyone with prior experience can jump right in after figuring out where all the stuff's new homes are in the UI. If you're looking for an all-in-one way to experience or re-experience RCT1 and 2, this is arguably the best way to play. It would have been nice to have the classic UI as an option, but it's not really a dealbreaker in any way. This is still very much a PC game and it very rarely expects you to trade your mouse for a finger. That's mostly reserved for scrolling through menus with a click-and-drag rather than an 'elevator' on the side. And if you've never played the classic 2D RCT games, you owe it to yourself to give them a shot. There's a charm here that's not found today and I think all players, whether vets or newbs, will enjoy it just like back when it set the world on fire.

It's slightly newer than the one you may remember. But you can still kill guests, cause mayhem, and build what you want. It's still the game you craved playing. Well worth it

I recommend RollerCoaster Tycoon Classic over the OG Roller Coaster Tycoon Deluxe, or Roller Coaster Tycoon 2 Triple Thrill Pack as this one is those two combined with some remastered features like new menus, UI, resolution etc. Plus it is also supported by OpenRCT2 https://openrct2.org/ as of late 2022 making this the definitive way to play the OG games!
