Jaw dropping and epic in scale, beautiful dynamic soundtrack that changes from epic combat music to relaxing music for just floating in space, fun combat and tons to explore. Don't let the low res graphics put you off, Rodina is absolutely worth every penny!

It's a super raw space game, the massive scale of everything is made palpable by how fast the game allows you to move contrasted by how insignificant you feel moving outside your ship. Yeah the graphics are programmer art but that's what allows the game to be this monumental. If you can bear the polygons and are not bothered by the glacial pace of development then give it a go.

Boy, I don't even remember when I bought this game - I think is was when the Xenon Mines were still a thing, and the Gravity Bikes were found on asteroids with the caskets. From that times to nowadays, I really only managed to play the game until "the end" recently, and my only regret is not had done it before. :) The lore is very, very immersive - a mesh up of Phillip K Dick with Asimov - and I think a bit of Arthur C. Clark. You can play the game without reading a single data crystal, but I strongly suggest you read every single one. The soundtrack is impressive, and it runs marvelously on the Steam Deck (after you manage to configure the controls in a way you like it). If you enjoy Indie games, I bet you will find Rodina very interesting.

This is a beautiful game, has an amazing soundtrack, and a great story. This is a miracle of a game to be developed by one person. This review is up to date as of update 1.6.5, and I have completed the available story. I can't wait for 1.7, I wish I could help with development in some way, but I have no money nor programming skills. 8/10 Anticipated, 7/10 for now due to general emptiness
