Why the game works so badly? I love Robin Hood: Legend of Sherwood very much. I can advice that game everybody who likes story of Robin Hood. But Steam version is just awful. Be ready that with high probability you can't play the game without any bug fixing program.

This release requires a fix for WinX to run at "normal" FPS. Which is better than without it. The problem is that the "normal" FPS for this game made for 15" CRT screens is 20. It is a commandos-style real time tactics game, so most of the gameplay is just one giant .bmp picture with tiny soldiers running on it. But moving the camera with that framerate is still crappy. If you can survive that, this is one of the best games ever made. The aforementioned .bmps are absolutely beautiful, the best at the time of the release. And then there's a storyline and a theme to this game. The missions are fun the gameplay is awesome. And then there's the additional layer of a camp where recruits produce goods for your heroes and also you can take them on missions. The game strongly encourages harder non-lethal runs to get more recruits. At the time of the release it was one of the best games ever made. But today it all depends on how long you can tolerate the pre-millennium tradition of the 20 FPS lock with the game logic tied to the framerate.

I would tell you I had loads of hours of fun with various challenges this game's community has come up with. I also would tell you that you need to download a patch to be able to play the game. Personally, its worth it. Also, theres not support for this game nowadays. The developer even proposed the wrong stock image for the steam library banner. Its a fun game though, once you get it to work. Price should be lower, probably worth 5 bucks nowadays.
